Exactly

Samus ridding a hog is like Mario packing an uzi. It's just... wrong.

But why is it weird? Why can't Samus ride a motorcycle? I've played every game in the series and I honestly don't see the problem. Sure, it's the first time we get a controllable vehicle. But why is that a bad thing?

Do you not see a problem with it, or do you not want to see a problem with it?
It's not objectively a bad thing. You can like it. People can like it. But it is way out in left field. As I said, it would be like Mario getting an uzi, or a Zelda game set in New York city, or a Yoshi game where he gets power-ups that allow him to suddenly grow real dino teeth and bloodily decapitate people in an orgy of rage. There are just somethings that are too out of character, too far out there that they change what something is. For me, this is one of those things. I mean, just saying Samus on a bike... sigh. I literally just sighed out loud typing it. I just can't.

I don't think those examples are comparable. Mario is a family friendly cartoon platformer, and giving him a real gun is obviously completely out of place. Metroid is a science fiction video game set on alien planets. Giving Samus a futuristic bike that looks very much in line with her new suit as a mean of fast transportation (as we have seen, this new planet seems quite massive to traverse by foot, Metroid Prime is notorious for how slow Samus is) is not out of place. Being a first for the series doesn't mean it doesn't belong.
Now, maybe when the game is out it turns out that the bike is a horrible gameplay decision. But just going by looks, aesthetics and world cohesion, it fits just fine.

To me it is much less jarring than Link getting a motorcycle ... just sayin'

I get not liking Samus having a motorcycle. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. That analogy is just doesn't fly. Samus having a technologically advanced motorcycle fits the universe. She's the Nintendo character that most fits on one based on the setting of her universe. That analogy only works if she were on bicycle.

The bike reminds me of Prime3 planet hopping with the ship.
I was surprised the trailer felt so low key.
Honestly, I'm fine with the bike. Though it may feel strange in a Prime game, it's actually not that out of character by overall series standards, as the 2D games have always had a slightly edgier/"cooler" style.
Deeply relieved that it's still coming this year; I have been waiting for this one for nearly a decade now and with the lack of info i was worried it would slip into 2026. Can't wait to finally play it.
Bring it on!
