Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Direct set for September 12

Bananza DLC is $19.99 per the eShop. They should have just delayed Bananza and included this DLC on the cart. Really annoying.

Pretty decent Direct overall. The level of niche for something like the Virtual Boy, and especially the og accessory, is atomic level lol. I was hoping Nintendo would be adding more N64, GBC, GBA, and GameCube games that are noticeably absent still rather than moving on to a new console, but still pretty cool to see though.

My daughter was stoked for the new Yoshi game, so I'll be getting that day one. We also loved seeing the first teaser for the new Mario movie! Other than that, that is absurd pricing charging $70 for both Mario Galaxy games lol. I'm gonna hold off on the DK Bananza DLC till I've 100% the game, but it's awesome seeing DK Isle again! Some solid ports coming, and good to see a huge third party release like RE Requiem day one.

Overall, I give it a 7/10.

I wish we got more NSO games but we'll get them through the same drip feed release like Sony does with PS Classics of legacy platforms older than PS4

I'm excited for the Yoshi game too!

Also just bought the DK Bananza DLC - havent even started it yet, trying to finish DMC5 SE first (already did the main game, just doing post game stuff like Vergil mode and LDK mode lol).

I guess this will help Nintendo get a handle on stock. Remember their FY forecast seemed really low, but they truly didn't have any big guns ready. Now it all makes sense. I wouldn't expect any big announcement until May next year.

I truly do not understand people’s expectations sometimes, here is the first party lineup along with some of the bigger 3rd parties franchises for the current fiscal year:

June 5-Mario Kart World

June 5-Cyberpunk 2077

June 5-Hogwarts Legacy

June 5-Civilization 7

June 5-Sonic X Shadow Generations

June 5-Street Fighter 6

July 11-Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4

July 17-Donkey Kong Bananza

July 23-WWE 2K26

July 24-Super Mario Party Jamboree+Jamboree TV

August 5-Apex Legends

August 14-Madden NFL 26

August 28-Kirby & the Forgotten World+Star Crossed World

September 4-Star Wars Outlaws

September 5-NBA 2K26

September 5-Daemon X Machina

September 26-EA Sports FC 26

October 2-Super Mario Galaxy 1+2

October 3-Borderlands 4

October 10-Little Nightmares III

October 14-Just Dance 26

October 16-Pokemon Legends Z-A

October 23-Persona 3 Reloaded

October 30-Dragon Quest 1+2 HD-2D Remake

November 6-Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

November 12-Yakuza Kiwami 1/2

November 14-Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

November 20-Kirby Air Riders

December 4-Octopath Traveler 0

December 4-Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

2025-Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition

2025-Sonic Racing Crossworlds

January 22-Dynasty Warriors: Origins

January 22-Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

February 5-Dragon Quest VII Reimagined

February 12-Mario Tennis Fever

February 27-Resident Evil 7/Village/Requiem

March 13-Monster Hunter Stories 3

March 27-007 First Light

Spring 2026-Yoshi and the Mysterious Book (Crafted World was March so I’m guessing this is)

I just don’t get how someone looks at that lineup and is like, “yeah, that’s a soft release schedule”

I am talking sales potential here, IE: 10m+ in one FY.

Mario Kart fits the bill but no 3D Mario, splatoonn, smash, Zelda, AC.

Their FY Forecast for s2 makes sense, keeping that in mind.

For me this year: Metroid Prime 4, Mario Galaxy 2, Hyrule Warriors, Bananza DLC, Kirby Air Riders

Next year: Fatal Frame 2, Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil 9, Rhythm Heaven

Maybe: Dragon Quest VII, Hades II, Yoshi, Pokémon Z/A

I swear, the negativity in this thread is insane. You people keep expecting dozens of announcements in every Direct even though Nintendo hasn't been announcing far-out games for almost a decade now. We have Pokémon, Hyrule Warriors, Metroid Prime 4 and Kirby Air Riders releasing this year, as well as Mario Galaxy 1+2 and the Donkey Kong DLC. What did you expect? For Nintendo to release two games per month? The games you are waiting for are probably in development, they just haven't been unveiled yet. There are even some games we know will come that weren't mentioned in this Direct. Nintendo never shows their full hand.

Welp, I'll have to join my opinion to yours.

Sincerely, I think most people here reacted out of their guts with the hugest of expectations.

And you can quote me on this, I said it first in this thread.

Nintendo has  their cards much tighter to their chests than they did a decade ago.

Basically, we've got a full schedule of what's to be expected from the beginning of next year until early Spring most likely. No real need to oversurgarcoat the presentation with far away releases.

Now, for the ACTUAL schedule we've got this year, I can understand the differing tastes of everyone in the offerings but let's not kid ourselves here. 2017 games offering on the Switch 1 would be considered a drought in comparison to what we had with the NS2 so far.

And such, in a shorter timeframe too.

As for the games presented itself, I've got my fill with Mario Tennis Fever (Aces is one of the best Mario Sports game, sue me), Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is completely my jam artistically. Metroid Prime 4 finally showed something to surprise people. And I've been served with the considerable amount of 3rd party games shown here like MH Stories 3, RE Requi9m, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, Fatal Frame II Re-remake, etc ...

Honestly, I think there's a lot of people needing to chill their expectations and let Nintendo develop the game they want. We're not getting everyone's wet dreams in the first two years of the console lifespan, be real.

Please let me know how many hours it is to beat and if it's worth $20.

Because you need a set amount of hours in any game to enjoy yourself ?

Though, I understand the perspective of money/time ratio, to me it flies in the face of actually playing something that is good and of quality, nonetheless of the price.

2017 was a killer year for Nintendo.

Odyssey
BotW
Mario + Rabbids
Splatoon 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 2

And all the 3rd party stuff like Neir, Doom, etc. were all on the actual cart. Switch's 2017 launch blows Switch 2's out of the water. And I still think Switch 2 is the best launch year we've had in almost a decade.

Not at all. I was just curious. My collection is chock full of games that aren't even 5 hours long. Half my collection is retro games that you can beat in a single two hour sitting. :D

Having slept on it, (stayed up to midnight here to watch it) it wasn't quite the worst Direct ever, as there were a couple of cool things.

Problem was, it felt like 10 minutes of worthwhile content buried amongst 50 minutes of filler.

Stuff like the Mario sponsored marathon in Kyoto didn't need to be there, and among the new games announced there wasn't anything that felt like a real wow moment or heavy hitter. Yoshi and Fire Emblem aren't bad, but they not really system sellers or showstoppers.

Pokémon Pokopia looked kinda terrible, the Virtual Boy segment felt like a bad joke, and the announcers needlessly recapping what we just saw got tiresome.

On the flipside, Resident Evil, Fatal Frame, and release dates for FF7 and Prime 4 kept it from being a complete disaster, but it was a very underwhelming show.

Nintendo's marketing has been bafflingly bad this year for some reason, in stark contrast to how smart it mostly was last gen.

Agree with the mario sponsored marathon

Disagree with the Yoshi and Fire Emblem, those are my personal system seller level titles (Yoshi is what got me to get a N64 years ago).

I personally enjoyed the direct, it was chock full of titles I'm interested in and third party title announcements (that I would be interested on other platforms).

Honestly, they could have had a Mario direct and had the Mario announcements all in it but only if they had more third party and other non-mario announcements.

But if they did that, we probably wont have another direct until next year (Assuming we get another one in the next 3 months).
