You jumped to the defense, when you didn't need to protect her.
She was not just handed a random Tshirt she didn't know about and her and friends got caught in a photo shoot.... that's not what happend.

Even if everything you said was 100% correct, I would still think it was legitimately insane that it bothered you.

Supporting women does not hurt men.

>Kathleen Kennedy and the students did not wear the shirts for the Nike campaign

They didn't have to. No one was claiming that. The festival is for women film makers, and they used slogans and sayings to support women film makers.

>The very similar "The future is female" phrase has been tweeted by the head of the school before Nike announced its campaign.

Not even the same phrase. The Future Is Female is a feminist phrase from the 1970's.

There is nothing wrong with that phrase per se, and I can guarantee you that if Disney hadn't messed with Star Wars, Marvel, and Indiana Jones, nobody would have even noticed that phrase; but their actions afterwards came to prove that that was actually a declaration of intent. They have not been subtle about it. At all.

First, I'll admit ignorance about where she wore that shirt before your response; still, some of that article comes off as reflexive hand-waving.  The reason JRPGFan's rebuttal feels largely correct is it's such an obvious play on words with regards to her job.  Let's say for the sake of argument that it breaks 50/50: she wore the shirt for this specific event while also admitting it corresponded to her general outlook on the franchise.  Cool.

Both in your response and some of the other posts since my first comment, it's genuinely baffling how some people are approaching this situation.  You understand the type of specialized fandom Star Wars has cultivated since its OG release, right?  If concepts like midi-chlorians can whip hardcore fans into paroxysms of rage, despite how well it thematically tracks with Episode I's exploration of symbiotic relationships, why do you think KK's stupid gender name-game would be ignored?

Battlefield 6 (XS) Review -- 6.5/10 |

If there were a Nike campaign that said "force is male" there would.be hell to pay by the media and SJW.

There is a group of people who are just massive hypocrites, and middle America sees it.

The problem is trying to force everything to be appreciated by everyone. It is impossible and often results in a product nobody loves.
Diversity between movies instead of within the same movie.

They don't want to make movies for everyone. They want to make movies for themselves and they expect men to pay for it. Just like the WNBA.

The delusion and arrogance from these brands and their defenders is honestly mind-boggling.

They are a company looking for profit.

2:00-2:30 (Don't care, wasn't made for you moment)

Then why wasn't that reflected in the movie rating or the trailers or the marketing whatsoever?

I guess for the same reason the trailers for Shazam 2 didn't include clips of Zachary Levi saying "Trump good, COVID vaccines bad" - it's not the job of movie advertising campaigns to be promoting the viewpoints of their stars.

It's also not the job of the movie stars to be voicing their viewpoints.

"Republicans buy sneakers" (or something to that effect. Some people are smart enough to avoid politics because they understand business.

I'd point out they're also smart enough to see through some of the arguments being made on this thread, such as the "It's not cancel culture when we do it" attitude some people are showing towards Brie Larson, and the "Politics should be kept out of movies... unless it's making an argument I agree with in which case politics should absolutely be in a movie as much as possible" line that others are taking.

Disney and those they've been pandering too:
'Hey, we see you built this great thing. We'll take it from here. You're no longer needed, or welcome for that matter. Beat it. Get lost. (Insert slur here).'
Also them:
'Hey, why doesn't anyone like and buy the thing anymore?'

Reminds me of the snow-white actress who literally told an entire group of people to **** off before launch, claiming she didn't need them... then was later crying when her movie bombed.  Funny thing about treating people like trash or deplorables...  they go somewhere else.
