It's an unfortunate byproduct of game development being so costly and taking so long these days, companies are basically releasing unfinished games because you still have to hit your release window and start making money back.
Really goes to show that performance is as much down to optimization as hardware.
Even the most powerful console can be brought to its knees by inefficient code.
UE5 in particular is insanely heavy, with its games often running at very low resolutions on console.
This is sad I think, I just watched the IGN review of this game, this defiantly went from being a day 1 purchase to now I will wait until its discounted, maybe 40-50%. Instead I will be picking up the MGS Master Collection the full bundle on steam as im sure they will have discounts with the release of Delta.

I think, unpopular opinion, consoles are just showing their age.
The ps5 is 5 years old and performance is ballpark a 2070s, which is far from cutting edge. And 16 gb total ram is low for today's games.
If I were in the GPU market I wouldn't touch anything less than 16 gb dedicated vram + 32 gb system ram.

I guess my hot take would be, maybe devs should develop their games for the hardware people actually own instead of always pushing for more and more graphics just for the sake of graphics.
If your game can't run well on currently available consoles, then your game is too ambitious and you should scale it back.

Except hundreds of millions play on PC.

Most of those aren't playing on high end rigs though, many have low to mid range hardware. For a Metal Gear Solid game especially, most of your core audience is going to be on PS5, so making it so demanding it runs poorly there is silly.

Maybe. Personal opinion, I love graphics being pushed because when GPU upgrades occur, it makes older games look even better. Granted PC has the advantage of settings so people with mid range can tailor their experience.
When I went from 4070 to 4090, I went back and replayed a number of older games.
The concept isn't much different than the S2 playing S1 games with better performance.

Don't get me wrong, I love pretty graphics as much as the next guy. I just feel like if your game doesn't even run well for most of your userbase, then you probably should have focused more on performance than eye candy.
