Forums - Nintendo - Cronos: The New Dawn launches on Switch 2 on September 5th

The game is a survival horror third person shooter from Bloober Team, the devs behind the recent Silent Hill 2 remake.

This looks good. Is it a real physical release or a Game-Key Card?

Looks quite good. They're obviously Stranger Things fans. Next-gen only (PS5-XS) and Unreal Engine 5 too to boot, looks like it runs fine on the system.

Bloober Team finally taking an original step that isn't just rooted in psychological horror is a welcome surprise.

This one is noteworthy not just for being a current gen UE5 title, but also in the fact it's releasing day and date with the PS5/XBS/PC versions rather than months/years later as is common for these sorts of ports.

I'll probably pick it up if it's technically solid, the core gameplay looks like my thing as someone who likes RE/Dead Space.

Key card sadly, like most third party. I'll just download it from the eshop, less hassle that way.

Yeah, I saw. Ill just get the PS5 version then.

While I'm not a fan of Game Key Cards on principal, I feel this is one of the less offensive cases.

Bloober are a smaller publisher, the port probably wasn't cheap, and the game is 24GB while game cards apparently only come in 64GB.

There's a few goodies too like stickers:

I'll still get the download version myself, but this is less egregious than when say Capcom or WB do it.

Game looks very impressive for switch 2. Day one for me.

Some direct feed footage of the Switch 2 version in action:

The game is out now. I downloaded it myself and played through the first hour.

Overall, I'm impressed so far. The atmosphere and sound design are fantastic, the world Blooper has created is compelling, and the Switch 2 version holds up decently; you can see where things like secondary props have been cut back, but the cuts aren't severe enough to spoil the experience.

Just be warned; it is hard. Old school hard, where enemies are relentless and one missed shot will get you killed. So far though it doesn't feel unfair; with each death I learned, got better, and eventually progressed.

if you're a fan of survival horror, it's definitely worth a buy.
