Not in terms of sales, since that could be easily quantified, but in terms of quality and quantity of games, what do you think was the best year in Xbox's history from 2001-present, and what's your argument for why your choice is the best?

If you want a serious answer then i'd say right now. It doesn't have the problems that the 360 or first gen had, and is making a lot of $$$. The problem is that it doesn't have a way forward and is losing the momentum to keep going.

Gotta go with 2007. BioShock, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, The Orange Box, Mass Effect, Forza Motorsport 2, etc. Lots of legendary titles, many of them exclusive or console exclusive. Xbox was really firing on all cylinders.

2002. Jet Set Radio Future! Shenmue II!

2006. They had a head start before Playstation

2010.

You had a solid year for the core Xbox audience with exclusivs like Halo Reach and Fable 3,multiplatform games like Read Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2, and Black Ops, and smaller titles like Limbo, Scott Pilgrim, Super Meat Boy, Pac-Man Championship Edition D, and Plants vs Zombies, as well as a strong start for the Kinect era. Not to mention that it was roughly the peak of sales for the Xbox brand, with 14 million consoles sold that year alone. And you had things like the redesigned models finally shaking off the RROD, including a cheap $199 model.

There are several very good years when it comes to game releases. Imo, This includes; 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2014, and 2025. Xbox was really on a roll between 2004-2010. Best overall would have to still be 2007. Way too many amazing games released that year.

2007 was peak Xbox.

Yeah it's gotta be 2007.

And 2008 (Ninja Gaiden 2, Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Left 4 Dead, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, Braid, Infinite Undiscovery, Lost Odyssey (Internation Release) Tales of Vesparia (In the West) and Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise)

Definitely 2007.
