Forums - Nintendo - Do backward compatible Switch 1 games with dynamic resolution run at better resolution on Switch 2?

Hi everyone,

With the Nintendo Switch 2, I’m curious about how backward compatibility work. Specifically, for games that use dynamic resolution on the original Switch, will they run with better or more stable resolution when played on the Switch 2?

Has anyone seen or heard anything about improvements in resolution scaling or graphical performance for these older titles on the new hardware?

Thanks in advance

Yes.

1) Any game that had an FPS below their framerate cap will run at their max cap.
2) Any game that had dynamic resolution will generally run at max resolution. - Same games will be 1080P, most games maxed out at 720P.

Yes, the extra power means that the resolution is improved, as games with dynamic res are programmed to drop res when a frame runs over budget, which happens less often on the stronger hardware.

Oh okay thanks for the answers
