I'm in the same boat, honestly.  I'm pretty sure I'll want the game eventually, maybe when it's on sale on "Mario Day"... probably 3 years from now, haha.  But unless this Direct blows away my expectations, I don't see me buying it any time soon.  I have such a massive backlog of Switch 1 games that I'm good with Mario Kart World until Prime 4 and whatever other surprises Nintendo may have this year.

I can't wait to see how far they push the destructible environments. I never was a huge fan of 2D Donkey Kong, but this 3D transition is looking very promising.

I was already convinced by what I saw on the Treehouse live so there's no real reason for me to watch this.

Although, them announcing a specific game Direct ... Doesn't bold well for a general Direct me think

They must not have enough new things to show for a general Direct.

Not necessarily, they can still announce another Direct on the following week until the first week of July, I'd say is possible. Otherwise, yes this announcement kinda dampened my expectations of one happening this summer. 

Nonetheless considering what we know already for the summer schedule. I won't mind waiting out until September for one to happen really. My game needs are covered these next few months. 

They might still have a partner showcase. I would love to see some more third party announcements.

11pm here too which is a nice change from the usual 12 midnight (or 1 am during daylights savings time) so I won't have to lose sleep.

I don't know if I'll be able to get up early enough to watch it live. I think in a past life I was an owl.
