I'm sure that someone has probably brought this up before, and since it's not a thing, that must also mean it was shot down lol. But retro gaming is huge right now, and I think it would be a benefit to the site if we had a dedicated forum for it. Has it ever been taken into consideration?

Could you give an example of a thread that would fit into the “Retro” category? And why this wouldn’t fit in with the “Gaming/Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft/PC” category? I agree that it sounds like a cool idea, though I’m a little lost on the execution.

As someone who plays a lot of retro games this could be cool, a lot of other forums have such a section, I know I'd use it.

Anything from what CRTs should be used, what is latest in FPGA retro console market, standalone CRT simulation software (like ShaderGlass), emulators, controllers, upscalers, DIY arcade cabinets...there's plenty more I can't think of right now off the top of my head.

But, to play devil's advocate, VGC is quite small, so I'm not so sure there's enough participants for such a thing.

Geezers like myself would love this, but I don't know how many like me there are on the boards right now. We used to be bigger.

I would like it

As someone who plays mostly Retro and Indie games (plus some Nintendo titles, which mechanically are generally similar to retro games), I would like this.

Well, if you play mostly retro consoles like I do, when you come here, there isn't much discussion specifically about it. Right now, it's nothing but Switch 2. That's understandable, given it's new and just launched, but what if you're like me? I'm currently playing Earthbound on my SNES for the first time via CRT. Before that, it was FF6. And before that, Chrono Trigger. I don't have a current gen console hooked up, nor really have an interest in doing so any time soon. So it's just my SNES and growing library of games. Later, it'll be my N64, or Genesis, or PS1 or something like that, and I feel like it would be cool to have a dedicated forum so I--and others like me--could have a home to go to as a default. I think it would be pretty cool.

Sounds like a very strong reason to me! I hope the site admins would be open to the idea.

+1 for this.

Sadly the population isnt as big as it was almost 15 years ago, could have used those numbers.
