Forums - Nintendo - A few people have got Switch 2's early but no functions until the day one update

Nintendo games have notoriously been leaked 2-3 weeks before launchdate for a while now. Looks like a countermeasure.

I know several retailers offer to do the account and game transfer in store when you buy the Switch2.

Wonder if there will be long.....waiting lines if the Switch2 first needs to be updated before anything like that can happen.

Willing to bet that this is purely a thing for launch units to prevent leakers from having early access to the console. Systems made after the launch period will come with the update pre-installed.

Its exactly this, but common sense wont stop the clowns to have their moment and babble their nonsense

Is this a fact? Or just your guess?

You know, there are clowns that attack every move Nintendo makes... but there are also clowns that defend every move Nintendo makes based on a gut feeling.

It's wild, in any case, that at least the first 4-5 million consoles will need online to work, even though that hasn't been stated anywhere by Nintendo.

Recently, they've also updated their terms of service to an illegal one over here, I wonder if this one will also lead to charges in places with stronger consumer protection standards. Probably someone somewhere will at least try.

Yes, and? Anyone you want to point out?

No its not guess, its logical reasoning... common sense like i said earlier. Do you really think Nintendo would hand Switch 2 risking to have leaks weeks before the release date, which happened with other systems in the past? Since there are already unboxing videos, that was a good call

Or I dont know... Maybe a should salute Nintendo's cold blood to have till the last day to make everything work for Switch 2 release?

I dont need to be considering the bullshit spilled by those draggers on the internet to make myself reasonable, you know? That would actually be a stupid thing to do

I wonder if Nintendo's servers will get overloaded with everyone trying to download the firmware update that day so some will have to wait and perhaps a lot of firmware updates will fail downloading part way through?

It could well be just a decryption key for stuff that's already installed but rendered unusable. That wouldn't overload anything.

Companies don't necessarily do common sense.

You gotta be fucking kidding. Required online to boot your console the first time. That is so fucked and sho2s no confidence in the product. Ya'll are going to be so disappointed a week from now. Mor fuck ups inbound.

They don't care about selling a few million at launch if the word of mouth after everyone gets the initial units are upset that no one else buys the system.  That would bankrupt Nintendo.  Everyone that buys the console is gong to enjoy it, because it's a Nintendo console with Nintendo quality games.

I mean, if Nintendo did their homework and made sure that their 500 dolars new toy was ready to use by just getting it out of the box day 1 and also made sure that third parties fixed their Switch 1 games to run on Switch 2 by launch day... they wouldn't need purpousely made it a paperweight to stop people from complaining about an unfinished or faulty product until the day 1 patch arrives.

So, this is all on them. And because of that, I think it's a shitty practice.

It's ultimately on the pirates of the world that have no morals and steal everything by downloading the games.

So reviewers can't even play it a lot early or maybe they get custom review hardware for the biggest outlets.
I understand Nintendo not liking early access but this is DRM BS. It's frustrating when consoles like Wii U and Xbox One need an internet update to function out of the box, and it seems newer consoles like Switch 2 are doing that too.

What pirates? The Switch 2 is not even out yet. There is no Switch 2 piracy (yet) xD
