Forums - Nintendo - Metroid Prime 4 at 4k 60fps looks amazing on Switch 2

Tagged games:

I havent really played a Metroid game, closest to was Super Metroid.

I got MP1 and plan to get MP4.

I'm assuming MP2 and MP3 will be available through GameCube NSO rather than being remade/remastered.

I'll play MP1 - hopefully MP2 and 3 will be available to play in some way before I play MP4.

It does. I think most metroid fans would play the switch 2 version

It looks amazing even at 720P on the OG Switch.

They really dialed in the Halo 4-esque art which absolutely scales wonderfully up and down, can't wait to get my hands on it.

The Switch one version of Prime 4 is 900p.

I looked at the first two seconds of the spaceship in the cutscene and stopped. I dont want to get spoiled when playing this game for the first time. It looks superbulous

More to it than that.

The Switch 1 performance range is more than commandable for a late Switch 1 game of this caliber. If you don't have a Switch by it's launch, you're clearly not getting stranded by Nintendo and Retro Studio on this one.

I'm guessing on a overclocked Mariko modded Switch 1 its probably capable of 720p 60fps and 1080p 60fps because those have up to 50% more GPU speed and up to 100% more CPU performance plus a memory boost too. On emulators on reasonably powerful PC hardware it will be 4K 60fps. Of course this will be on reduced quality assets compared to Switch 2 though. Maybe PC emulators support higher fps too like 120fps.

i like your signature, bonzobanana.

to stay on topic: it's funny how the NSW1 game is more of a graphical showcase of NSW2 than the launch title lol.

I must admit now that I know that Mario Kart World was originally being developed for the original Switch I'd love to see some images of the development versions of that software on the original Switch to see how they compare. Zelda BOTW was the big end title for wii u and ended up visually being in the middle between portable and docked performance of Switch but didn't have the consistent frame rate of portable mode which I think had dynamic resolution scaling so could up the frame rate when needed. wii u would just struggle on with 720p resolution and lower frame rate in more difficult areas. In the end with all the patches it ran well though.

Here Switch 2 definitely has better graphic assets and seems a real generation above original Switch. It feels like for those willing to throw a lot of money Nintendo's way they will get a good gaming experience. I'm more of a PC gamer nowadays despite still being very much interested in Nintendo hardware. So I guess I might be looking for a handheld PC based gaming device at some point however I sort of like taking a small laptop and using a controller with that if I need portable gaming because of the much larger screen.

and I agree.
