I'd like to see a port of Alan Wake II which IMO is still the best looking game on the PS5.

It can run a bit rough on the Steam Deck, I wonder with better optimization from an actual developer for the Switch 2 specifically and better image quality thanks to DLSS whether or not you can get a significantly better looking version of the game on Switch 2 at a more stable 30 fps. Certainly I think Cyberpunk 2077 looks better than the Steam Deck version (ditto for Hogwarts as well).

If they port Wukong to the Switch 2, I'll definitely buy it. I finished the game on PC last month and it's a masterpiece. In the simulation video that the Chinese tech channel made, they used one of the most demanding part of the game (the intro fight) and the game runs at 1080p, DLSS quality at 30fps in docked mode, and 40-45fps with DLSS Ultra performance in docked mode as well. In handheld mode, to hit 30fps, they have to use DLSS Ultra performance (it looks really bad).

It does seem to run ok-ish on Steam Deck, I mean certainly not the prettiest version here, but it runs. 

I think it might be fair to share you get a significant performance boost from a developer sitting down and making a version specifically for a console, so I would expect if this comes to Switch 2 that the game will look better than this. 



this game released on last gen systems and after alot of updates, was playable and looked fine. Switch 2 is running on next gen ( current gen) hardware.

Switch 2 is also mobile hardware though, which brings with it significant limitations. The last gen versions may have been playable after extensive patching, but they still had pretty poor image quality and a lot of cutbacks.

Looks amazing yet natively rendered at 360p when under load and upscaled to 1080p for portable mode. I believe portable performance mode is 720p final resolution but not sure but 120Hz (40 fps). So many different news reports to filter through. I'm unsure what native resolution is for docked but 1080p final resolution. I saw it is still using DLSS when docked so guessing something like 720p native but not sure.

I think ongoing we will see a lot more consoles feature AI upscaling and I guess AMD and Intel are in catchup mode to match DLSS. I think upscaling could well be an important feature of all new consoles going forward both portable and home. This helps them reduce their price and improve power efficiency. If Sony does come up with a new portable it will surely be important to have that feature. The steamdeck has FSR but I don't understand how it compares to DLSS not having a steam deck or anything with a powerful AMD graphics chip. Is FSR comparable, if so why isn't the steam deck rendering at lower resolutions to give better frame rate results. In theory the steam deck is still more powerful than Switch 2 if the upscaling technology was comparable but I'm assuming FSR is massively inferior to DLSS.

It feels to me that Nintendo have gone to town optimising and improving the DLSS upscaling on their console. I'm super impressed with the results.

Like Switch 1, Switch 2 has to be able to function as a handheld when away from the dock.

Because of this, the chipset powering it, T239, is subject to the limitations of size, thermals, and wattage that comes with mobile hardware.

Steam Deck supports both FSR and Intel Xess. In the case of DLSS, the image quality is MUCH better than FSR and Xess, so in terms of frame rate I don't think the difference is huge, but in terms of image quality the difference is huge. I'm playing Cyberpunk with DLSS 4 and the game looks amazing, but I think the Switch 2 version will use DLSS 3 in the best case scenario.

PS: I'm playing tight now with DLSS 4 (Quality Mode), 1440p and Ultra Settings and the game looks amazing.

It is. Pretty much every new game that "runs on the Steam Deck" utilizes FSR to achieve its 800p target. 

For example, the Cyberpunk 2077 Steam Deck preset uses FSR 2.1 Balanced with a target resolution of 800p but an internal resolution of about 530p. 

The framerate at those settings fluctuates between 28-40fps, hovering around 35fps. 

The Steam Deck preset has similar graphics settings to the Series S and Switch 2 versions of the game. 

FSR doesn't work very well at low internal resolutions, so they probably couldn't go too much lower than 530p without making the game look horrible. DLSS 3 and 4 are much better upscalers at lower resolutions (and in general.)

There is also the matter that the Switch 2 is rumored to combine DLSS with DRS (Dynamic Resolution Scaling) so the 360p internal might be a lower bound in heavy scenes.
