Games I beat but still in love with, I...

Replay at some point 19 79.17%

Replay straight after beating it 2 8.33%

I never replay games. 3 12.50%

Total:24

Do you strat a NG plus or just fresh NGs? How long after, have you ever went straight back in after beating it? Not counting games that demand a second playthough for plat'ing...

The Witcher 3

Bloodborne

Dark Souls 3

Sekiro

GTAV

Clair Obscur E33

And now Clair Obscur E33 are the few that I return to and in all cases I went straight back into them directly after beating or gaining the Platinum, in the case of post Platinum it's a fresh NG.

I have a one year rule where I wont re-play a game for at least year minimum.

Also if the game is multiplat, I would play it on another platform if possible.

I like the thought of replay games. Often to try another path, another character or find everything i missed.

But for the games I really love, like Diablo 1, Resident Evil 4 or Fire Emblem the Blazing Blade, I set up new rules for myself. Never going back up to town for Diablo, Never using the merchant for Resident Evil 4 and only playing female characters in Fire Emblem.
For games I love, I spend part of my playthroughs imagining how my next playthrough should be.

Holy shit you like final Fantasy. You're like me with MGS. I'll beat ya though, The game that gets my third place is sekiro at 12 replays but then they jump radically with MGS1 got at least 28+ playthroughs and MGS2 got my 49th playthrough in 2023. It's probably more cause I stopped counting as a teenager and def done a few more replays in my teens of both MGS games.

I don't play a lot of games more than once, except Nintendo games, Resident Evil games, Uncharted 2, Chrono Trigger, and Tales of Symphonia, Bioshock.

Final Fantasy is my most favorite IP lol

If we're talking about playthroughs - I would say....my most played games over 30+ years of gaming include...

Pokemon Blue (GB/C) - 20 times, due to transferring pokemon from the game to Stadium on N64 and then restarting the game from the beginning, rinse and repeat lol...I got 20 legit mewtwos in my pokemon stadium save file...

Super Mario World (SNES, GBA, NSO) - the SNES version at least 17 times, GBA version twice and then the NSO version once so 20 times

Final Fantasy VI (SNES, PS1, NS and Mobile remake PC) - the SNES version I played at least 15 times, the PS1 version at least once and the NS and PC one time each as well

Chrono Trigger (SNES, PS1) - the SNES version at least 15 times and the PS1 version once

Most commonly I replay games 5/10/15 years later - I have anniversary obsession.
Being retro game/far behind times, I've player very few games that have any kind of NG+ and pretty much only one I've replayed like that was PS2 Okami.
I have however played my favorite game Wing Commander 1 once a year for 30 years (but am planning to end the tradition this year) and various sequels/spinoffs every 5 years (did used to do some of them every 2 years till I got more and more of them).
One very rare example of immediate replay was Max Payne 1, having played it on easy I wanted to see if the middle difficulty was any different and ended up playing it second time straight on.
I do play some of my small/quick favorites annually, especially when I dig out my Master System every december.

I think the original Resident Evil 4 was the only game I immediately jumped in again after beating it. Insane replay value.

I dont do NG+ in fromsoft games, cause I dont like reestarting and having it all, I like the experience from the start. So I replay them quite a lot from the start. Ive replayed Bloodborne and Elden ring like 10 times each.

Similarly, i tend to replay classic rpgs/jrpgs that have left an impression on me over the year, mostly games of my childhood. I replay Chrono Trigger, Suikoden 2 and FF6 pretty much yearly. Its easier now that theres the FF pixel remasters and the Suikoden remasters as well.

Of more recent games, ive replayed Unicorn Overlord like 5 or 6 times, I just love me some tactical jrpg games and the Ogre Battle format of having squads is - to me - the best mechanic of the genre. I like it more than controlling individual units like you do in Fire Emblem or Tactics Ogre - not that I dislike those games, cause I like them  a lot. In fact ive replayed Tactics Ogre reborn quite a lot as well.

The game i play the most is probably Monster Hunter (Wilds at this point) but since youre never really ever done with it until you decide you are I guess it doesnt count as replaying it.

Having all of this said, its rare that I finish a game and the immediately jump back at it. I usually play something else before I decide to replay an already finished game.

For sure. Done this many times. Although I do often find myself dropping it for a short while once I reach the island. The first part 2/3 of the game is a lot better than the last 1/3 in my opinion.
