Since no one else is doing it. Even with the strong scores it seems there is not much hype, MC scores are all over the place so not going to bother, they are too spread out on systems ranging from 82 to 87 so an 85 average anyway. Opencritic 85 with 96% recommendations.

It's a Doom game. There's always going to be hype regardless.

Game is getting some great scores though! Can't wait!

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Looks good. Imma get this.

This is definitely the Doom for me, none of that BS from eternal with verticality and puzzles, focus points on enemies and treating Demons like loot boxes. Fast but not too fast. I'm all for it apart from one thing, I'm mot paying 80 euro for any game. Death Stranding 2 and GTA6 may test my integrity on this but Doom is not worth 80, it would need to pull something close to Destiny or have an MP mode regarded as better than Halo 3 to come close to that. Instead, I'll wait till it's dirt cheap.

Big winners and big loosers at the 79,99 price point. Game is down 70% of Eternals numbers (105k) on steam at 30k. Stellar Blade at 69,99 outpacing it just on preorder sales. Can't even break the top 50 most played on steam currently at no. 65 with games that are a year old beating it. Looks like MH Wilds lost it's legs too way harder than MH World. I swear, there will be a correction soon and a lotta studios targeting 59,99 to stand out and meet peoples declining budgets.

The new MSRP doesnt help.

I've only played OG Doom 1

I'll get Dark Ages once I catch up lol

Gamepass for me, not spending £70.

So far enjoying it, but do find the dragon and mech sequences an absolute chore lol

Steam numbers are quite low, 30,812 peak concurrent compared to eternal 104,981 5 years ago.

Doom 2016 was hype because Doom is back we are now in the phase 'Oh another Doom' 'where is Quake?' So next is probably a Quake game that will be hyped I guess.

Game is fantastic so far. Liking it more than Eternal. Tho I disliked Eternal anyway. Loved Doom 2016. I still like that more as I prefer the simpler take but as is. TDA is great. The dragon sections tho are kinda meh tho.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Eternal Tbf didn't launch into Game Pass and launched near the start of lockdowns.

There may be a bit of franchise fatigue and reluctance due to price as well, the latter is an easy fix though, Steam has sales constantly, Lol. It'll sell fine Imo in the long run, I'm sure it will have decent sale legs and good engagement on Game Pass, may not hit the highs of Eternal if there's a bit of franchise fatigue but it will still be a modest success.

I'm still busy with Oblivion, otherwise I'd have been there day one, still haven't touched it, I wonder how many others are still busy with Oblivion/E33, etc. It has been an extremely busy few weeks and maybe it has finally backfired a little to not spread out more evenly. But I feel like Dark Ages always had less hype than Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal, I think a combination of franchise fatigue, a few considering Eternal to be worse than Doom 2016 and Dark Ages being a prequel when they've already closed the story on Doom via The Ancient Gods.

I loved both Dooms but I think Doom 2016 is better than Eternal and I'm not hugely into prequels either so I will admit my hype was "lesser" for The Dark Ages than it was for Doom 2016 and Eternal and I wish they revived Quake instead of making another Doom but I won't complain that much because I still love Doom and lesser hype doesn't mean no hype, I was still excited, Lol. It's just like I'd rather they did something else now.

As always though, CCU tells us only half of the picture and sometimes not even half, Lol.
