Forums - Nintendo - Switch 2 New Preorder Date (US + Canada)

Good to have a date. And I’m glad the prices of the system and games remain steady — although they’re still gonna make a dent in my wallet.

As for accessories, those are the least essential items, particularly since Switch Pro Controllers are backwards compatible.

Overall, this is fairly close to a best-case scenario, considering the economic instability all around us.

I was going to buy the new Pro controller but, with it lacking Hall Effect, I will stick with the Pro I am currently using on my Switch. I will buy the console before prices go up. I can only see this helping sales out of the gate in the USA. People that were on the fence may buy earlier to avoid a higher priced Switch 2 later. If prices do go up due to tariffs it might hurt the consoles legs in the first half of its life. I imagine the next US administration will run on curbing inflation by backing off of tariffs. If that turns out to be the case it will help with sales in the second half of its life but who knows where the momentum will be then...

Yeah, even less reason to buy it.

So the tariff fear-mongering was a nothing burger? I'm shocked.

When it sells like hotcakes during it's first year and complaints about pricing are lost, like tears, in rain.. I look forward to being shocked again.

Too early to say if it's invalid in the long-term.

I would not be surprised if in 2026 or 2027 the price gets raised to $500.

I'll stick with my Switch 1 pro controller initially, but I may ask for the Pro 2 controller for Christmas.

I just hope they don't increase the prices in the other regions to further subsidize the US market.

As far as I’m aware, USA has the strongest tolerance for price hikes of any country. Why wouldn’t they just stick with price hikes in USA? (Or is there any evidence suggesting that price hikes emerge in other regions to recuperate losses in a certain region?)

Thank goodness the Switch 2 system price is unchanged!

I've been planning on just putting it on my Yule list because I have other expenses.

Now do the PS4 to Playstation 5 and PS4 Pro to 5 Pro, Xbox One to Series X, and the cost increases for controllers and accessories.  The consoles have increased in cost, as have the controllers since their launch.
