Which first year game library do you think is better? 2017 Switch 1 or 2025 Switch 2?

2017 Switch 20 83.33%

2025 Switch 2 4 16.67%

Total:24

What do you guys think, for reference here are the game lineups for both years, Switch 2's lineup could still be subject to change however:

Switch 2's first year:

-Mario Kart World

-Switch 2 Welcome Tour

-Donkey Kong Bananza

-Drag x Drive

-Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment

-Kirby Air Riders

-Metroid Prime 4

-Pokemon Z-A

-TOTK/BOTW/Kirby/Mario Party Upgrade Packs

Switch 1 First Year:

-Zelda BOTW

-1-2 Switch

-Mario Kart 8 DX

-Arms

-Splatoon 2

-Pokken DX

-Mario Odyssey

-Fire Emblem Warriors

-Xenoblade 2

Which first year do yall think is better? It's tough for me tbh both look really solid.

I think i'll give the slight edge to 2017 Switch, hard to beat a year with 3D Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, & MK even if its a port. But DK Bananza, MK World, and Prime 4 make it close for me those games look amazing as well.

I'd give Switch 1 the win, though it's close.

BOTW, Odyssey, MK8, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, and ARMS was a legendary lineup that got the system off a flying start.

That said, Switch 2 is certainly no slouch; MK World and DK Bananza being the first new entries for their series in 11 years, the first Metroid Prime in 18 years, a new Pokémon, and a new Hyrule Warriors is very strong lineup in its own right.

We don’t know the full first year of NSW2. (Unless you’re asking about calendar year? In which case, NSW1 has an extra 3m on NSW2…which may not seem like much, but that gives NSW2 only two-thirds of the time NSW1 had.)

2019 Switch for me. As for the poll? 2017. It had Xenoblade. That wins

Yeah this is a very good point.

Comparing the same timeframe for both would be a more apples-to-apples comparison.

All this for instance is coming in the first 7 months of Switch 2; that same timeframe for Switch 1 would exclude Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2.

This will be interesting to revisit in December and January.
We don't know yet every first-party game coming (at least I doubt it) and tons more to come from third parties.
We haven't played the new games yet, but I really doubt Switch 2's 2025 can beat Switch when only looking at first-party games.
How do you top Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and several other Nintendo games?
Switch 2 will probably beat Switch quite noticeably in third-party games at the start, but first-party seems less certain.

I think Switch 1 takes it, but they are both awesome.

You did forget about Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.

If you're coming into the Switch 2 not owning the Switch 1 than the Switch 2 since it plays most Switch 1 games. But BOTW and Mario Odyssey in the first year  is better than Mario Kart and Donkey Kong to me personally.

100% the switch but the Switch 2's is still shaping up to be great.

I'm in that train. Life has a way of working things out. My family was having financial problems for a while, So I couldn't afford the luxury of owning a switch. Recently I landed a very good job and am quickly getting some savings. I'll finish building a great 1080p gaming PC next month and will have plenty of money in november to get myself a 4k 120hz tv, a Switch 2 and several games. Can't wait to play Botw in 4k 60fps.
