Well that depends on what you expect. Some expect it to bomb hard.

That would kill Nintendo. -_-

I dont know. They have A LOT of money.

I still think the Switch 2 will do fine. Most people are upset about the price because they want it.

True, but Nintendo can't afford to burn through too much money unlike PlayStation and Xbox who have overarching corporate overlords backing them. A lesson that is always tough to learn is that money runs out quick.

Nintendo has been in business since 1887. They obviously have confidence in the Switch 2. I dont think people realise how beloved the Switch actually is. Its like the first console Ive seen several people saying is their favorite console over the SNES, N64 and the GC. The fact that it actually beat nostalgia is incredible.

104% tariffs on China. We're so doomed and I'm not even joking. Will China retaliate again and enrage the annoying orange to go for 200%?

Likely yes. Everything China does these days is an international incident.

I'm not denying that. I'm just saying all the profits Nintendo gained during the Switch era can quickly run out if they make one too many blunders. Unlike the Wii U era, Nintendo doesn't have a 3DS to rely on to help pick up the slack, and even then, they were losing records amount of money. Although I guess you could say the Switch 1 will be their 3DS for the foreseeable future lol.

Wii U to Switch showed Nintendo all it takes is one gen to turn things around. The same can be said vice versa though.

Unfortunately for Nintendo, there's now this perfect storm of both poor PR after the Switch 2 reveal and now real world politics that are completely out of Nintendo's control. I certainly hope that the Switch 2 isn't affected too much, but there's so much uncertainty both in how the tariffs will affect pricing and the bad PR of Nintendo asking for $100-$150 more for their new console (if not more if the tariffs take hold) and then asking even more to buy their new games. The big system seller at launch alone being $80.

Many may just be priced out of being able to buy a Switch 2 right now. Not because they don't want one, but because of just shit going on in the world.

Well we`ll see how it all turns out soon enough. I dont think the internet rage and prices are going to affect Nintendo too much, but its going to be interesting to see how it all plays out. I dont mind Nintendo being humbled a bit by lower sales if that is what happens.

I think we may see $499 base system and a $529 Mario Bundle.

Remember Nintendo has insane software profits that will comfortably combat Selling the S2 at a $50 loss in the US if it came to that. Their investors won't like it but the company will be fine.

Would they even be selling at a loss? I would love to know how Nintendo is able to sell the Switch 2 in Japan at $350 with current exchange rates. I can't imagine making a console region free can cost that much more.

Nintendo hasn't been selling their consoles at a loss for a long time now.

Well, the company exists to make money for its investors. It's mandated by statute to do so to the best of their abilities.

There would be a lot to explain if they don't approve of what the company is doing after years of falling revenue. A reminder that the shareholders' annual meeting is less than a month after the Switch 2 launches.

The board could convince them this is the best course of action, of course, or they can go the way of Ken Kutaragi...
