Nintendo has been in business since 1887. They obviously have confidence in the Switch 2. I dont think people realise how beloved the Switch actually is. Its like the first console Ive seen several people saying is their favorite console over the SNES, N64 and the GC. The fact that it actually beat nostalgia is incredible. |
I'm not denying that. I'm just saying all the profits Nintendo gained during the Switch era can quickly run out if they make one too many blunders. Unlike the Wii U era, Nintendo doesn't have a 3DS to rely on to help pick up the slack, and even then, they were losing records amount of money. Although I guess you could say the Switch 1 will be their 3DS for the foreseeable future lol.
Wii U to Switch showed Nintendo all it takes is one gen to turn things around. The same can be said vice versa though.
Unfortunately for Nintendo, there's now this perfect storm of both poor PR after the Switch 2 reveal and now real world politics that are completely out of Nintendo's control. I certainly hope that the Switch 2 isn't affected too much, but there's so much uncertainty both in how the tariffs will affect pricing and the bad PR of Nintendo asking for $100-$150 more for their new console (if not more if the tariffs take hold) and then asking even more to buy their new games. The big system seller at launch alone being $80.
Many may just be priced out of being able to buy a Switch 2 right now. Not because they don't want one, but because of just shit going on in the world.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind
