Can you envision Nintendo VR having the same problem with all Nintendo IPs on that platform?

Yes. Playing in VR is exhausting for longer periods of time. After an hour or so I'm quite happy to get that massive thing off of my head. But I have no problem to play Mario Kart or Zelda on a screen for hours and hours on end. When it comes to Nintendo games, I often play them with other people, like Mario Kart. I can't imagine that being more fun when 4 people sit around with a VR headset on their head. It would take away the whole social aspect.

Also, I can take the Switch with me anywhere I go, because it's portable. Now technically a VR headset like the Quest is also portable. But I only once actually did take it with me. I never did it again because the thing is so huge and again, the battery time doesn't help. What's the point in carrying around a monster of a gaming device when you can only play for 45 minutes with it? It seems silly.

VR may get better in 1 or 2 decades, when the devices are small and offer way longer battery times. But as of right now, I don't see any appeal to the mass market, which is what Nintendo is aiming for.

Seems you're comparing VR headset with handheld - even in future when it's just some thin glasses, or similar, you need space to play it, so if you have one, you tend to stick to that place (or places). So it is more like home console, than handheld.

I never had problems gaming on VR for several hours, though I do recognize that VR headsets are still fairly cumbersome and sweaty. That said, tech has been improving and I don't think Nintendo will just miss the opportunity - as I said, ocean is getting more red when it comes to Switch concept, so I don't see them having two platforms again as odd.

Reviewtechusa fell off hard. How could he make a video with a straight face with the topic being "Switch 2 is all but dead".

People might think hes just trying to click bait or troll but hes absolutely serious, while partially it might be done to click bait, I just think he has an awfully cynical and melodramatic way of thinking about everything.

Keeps bringing up that same stupid point that handheld gaming PCs are taking away the Switch 2's market share in the same sentence where he mentioned "Steam Deck sold 4 Million". Literally i think you can combine every PC handheld in existence during the Switch's life and they probably wouldn't even reach 1/10th of the Switch 1's lifetime sales of 153 Million, it's an awful point that he needs to stop making, most people dont even know what a Steam Deck is or care to know, they just want to play simple fun Nintendo exclusives and many would rather even play 3rd party games with the simplicity of console like the Switch 2.

Says that Switch 2 being easy to get rn is a sign that demand isn't high, OR it could be that Nintendo heavily prepared themselves with stock this time around since it was clear from the beginning Switch 2 will be high in demand. Japan sales numbers are still high, of course sales numbers gonna go down from launch period thats not a point of concern.

How can the fastest selling console of all time be all but dead, insane.... gonna be funny to laugh at this video once Switch 2 easily surpasses 100M again.

It's best to just ignore outlets like this, a lot of these enthusiasts are elitist neckbeards who can't fathom that normal people aren't as obsessed with graphics and technology as they are.

Rage bait also generates more ad revenue, so they intentionally troll popular things to get those clicks.

I'm gonna say over 120 million for sure.

was actually being generous saying Handheld PCs combine to 1/10th of Switch's total sales, a recent report stated that only around 6 Million total have been sold. Which is a tiny 3% of the Switch's lifetime sales. These Handheld PCs are not even a tiny blip on the Switch's radar but all these elitist neckbeards on the internet would make you swear that they are legit competitors at all.

Literally only took 7 weeks for the Switch 2 to outsell the combinations of every Handheld PC combined including all their combined years they've been supported.

Yeah PC handhelds are effectively irrelevant as far as mainstream appeal goes, anyone who thinks they'll cut into Switch 2's marketshare to a significant extent is living in a bubble.

Hobbyist handheld market (in which NS2 belongs) will see some movements in following years, so NES to SNES kind of drop is to be expected.

Mainstream handheld market (AKA mobiles) is on the rise, with +3% YOY, making 49% of all gaming revenue in 2024 (for comparison, Nintendo makes up for ~6.15% of all gaming revenue in 2024).

Mobile gaming will never cut into the Switch 2's market.
