Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch 2 Direct - 1 Day Left

Hard to be as excited for this date when I’ve got Xenoblade Cheonicles X already.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still looking forward to it, but my excitement has subsided.

From what I’ve read out there, the only confirmed Mario game at launch will be Mario Kart 9. Hopefully that is wrong as I wouldn’t pick it up at launch otherwise

I hope there's a version of Metroid Prime 4 on Switch 2 that looks like a generational leap over the Switch game. Think: A 'Gamecube Prime-to-Switch Prime' level of difference. That would certainly explain that tweet about Prime 4 stealing the show at the Direct.

Also very interested to see how the next 3D Mario is and if there is indeed some kind of Zelda remake on the horizon, then I'm hoping it's for Ocarina of Time.

No confirmation yet if Mario Kart will be a launch title. But it's all but confirmed. It would be really strange to show it as the first Switch 2 title if it's not there at launch.

3D Mario still seems really likely this year, and I'm betting on a reveal during the Direct. I don't think it will be there at launch, though. Mario Kart is the bigger game in terms of sales and 3D Mario can be spread out a bit.

It depends if you mean launch or just the general launch window.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe didn't release until a month after the Switch and still became it's bestselling game. Mario Kart 9 could come out months after the Switch 2 and will still be a massive system-seller.

It would be strange though if they had this many years to develop a new game and it still wasn't ready by the launch of their new system. Unless they had some other reason to delay it's release, like wanting to showcase a different title for Switch 2's launch.

I was getting caught in semantics, I guess. Even on the off chance it's not a launch title, it will very much be a launch window title available 3 months or so after launch. Maybe 6 months at most.
