Forums - Movies & TV - Netflix pisses away Three Hundred and Twenty Million Dollars

Studios have been spending extraordinary amounts of money on derivative films for decades, at least since the 1970s. That's the bulk of the blockbuster film industry. The appeal of those films are usually celebrities, explosions, and flashy lights. The reason, is these sorts of films = $$$. And everything is a gamble, if it's as bad as you say, I'm sure Netflix didn't go in thinking "Let's make a terrible film and spend loads of money on it" let alone with the addition of "to piss people off."

Unless you're a stakeholder, it's better not to concern yourself with what other people spend their money on. You'll be happier that way.

Note: I have no opinion on this particular film, I'd never heard of it before. But I'm also not much of a blockbuster fan. I'm more into horror, dark comedy. My favourite genre that most people hate is raunchy comedy, I'll watch Dirty Grandpa and Trailer Park Boys over 95% of Super Hero films.

It is my money their spending. Well not anymore cause I've axed them but the pool of money they use to make content is the users money and the size of that pool is not nearly enough considering their profit let alone to spend this much of it on one film.

Around the Network

I didn't know anything about it other than what some critics were saying online... so I had to check it out. It's not bad, its very light hearted and I dug the humor. All in all it was worth a watch. No harm no foul.

The harm is spending 2-3 times as much as needed on an average movie while raising prices at a record pace.

And prices went up again in 2024, 2025.
