Shrek 5 launches Christmas 2026, and the trailer with the cast announcement just came.

But... Fans of the series seems to be really upset about how the characters look in this short trailer. It seems like they made some, well, adjustments on the animation that people aren't really looking forward to.

What's your opinion?

I don't really have an opinion on the visuals - I only watched the first Shrek and didn't bother with the sequels - but how on Earth does Zendaya keep being cast in everything?

Its hard to even put in words whats really different but something changed.

I think Shrek looks slimmer in the face, but has more of a cone head effect going on.
His eye brows and lips seem abit different. I remember skin being completely green, now it has blush and freckles.
Fiona looks aged abit...same with shrek.
Even Donkey didn't escape being aged... he has got that mane going grey on top, and seems slimmed down too.

while different... its not sonic levels of bad.

edit: the more I look at it... I think its a change in its art style.

I havent seen past first movie.

Hopefully it comes to streaming services so I can binge (or semi-binge it)

Yes, for sure. There are a lot people complaining about it and I hope they do something about it.

Graphics evolve. It is what it is. I don't think the new Shrek trailer looks off. It looks more polished visually. More poligons, more expression, more everything. Time has passed, we have to take that into account too. Judging by Shrek's daughter, Shrek 5 will be set like 15 years after the last one. Of course the characters will change.

I don't know, I think people just like to complain. Or don't know how time works. I don't know which one is it...

I don’t see what’s supposed to be wrong. They all look like what they should look like. Except older. Is that it? But older makes sense since it’s like what 20 years later. The fact that Donkey’s still alive after all this time is the real question here.
