I know a lot of people on here don't even get the time to game or choose to keep up with the industry from the sidelines and watch from past threads I've done but do people here get time for hobbies at all. What's your main hobby and is it gaming related or adjacent like table Top or something.

I main Guitar but spend most time gaming.

Also. Making threads on here has become a bit of a hobby of mine. Posting on here and reading threads, well that's actually taking up more time than I spend practicing guitar, I'd reckon.

Gaming is by far my biggest hobby lol. So much so I did a new PC build recently and just finished building up Emulators and ROM library for Arcade games, N64, GameCube, GBC, GBA, Dreamcast, OG Xbox, X360, PS1, PS2, and PSP along with modern controllers from Retro Fighters for the N64 and GameCube in particular, picked up the 8bitdo arcade stick, and I should be getting my Sinden Light Gun in the mail here soon to really turn my PC into an all-in-one entertainment center for Arcade and Console gaming lol. On top of playing the newest games of course.

Outside of that, I'm a huge movie person. Both my wife and I are, and we have watched a LOT of movies together. Not much of a reader or artist/musician at all, but as far as extracurriculars go, we love hiking and camping. Now that my daughter is becoming more of age, we took her on a hike just this past weekend and she loved it, so I'm really hoping by this time next year I can say that outdoor activities is my biggest non-gaming hobby

Oh, watch a good amount of sports too. Primarily NFL, MLB, and NHL rooting for my local teams!

Gaming used to be my main hobby until my 30s, then fitness took over as the main / consistent time consumer.

Next to weight lifting I started long distance cycling until a year ago. I would do 60 to 120 km routes, 2.5 to 5 hour rides. 80 km, 3.5 hours being the happy medium. But damage from falls started adding up as well as wear and tear on my wrists, elbows, knees. Plus winter sucks for cycling so then I would go for a jog or walk in the snow.

Since last year I went all in on running. I usually do 21 km routes, 2 hour run through all kinds of terrain. 16 km when it gets too cold / too obstructed by snow, have gone up to 27 km in nice weather. It clears my mind, 2 hour break from daily stress, while gaming often adds to the stress. Plus the 'runner's high' endorfins feel good. Kicks in after 40 minutes, usually when I get to the trail/forest section, then cruising along.

Other hobbies are reading, good old fashioned paper backs. Movies were a hobby but now I can't seem to sit still and pay attention for 2 hours anymore. I'm still 'waiting' for a good time to watch Dune part 2.

Even less time for gaming in the summer, swimming, kayaking, yard work (incl chopping down trees). I rather be outside in summer than inside gaming.

Don't ever say people don't change. I went from building PCs, playing and reading about video games whenever possible. 12 hour game sessions in the weekends, playing until 3AM at night to now maybe a dozen hours a week, usually much less, avg 40 minutes a day. It only gets up to that dozen+ a week when we play couch co-op.

And from never (explicitly) exercising (I have always cycled a lot) to now spending avg 2 hours a day on maintaining my fitness level. And it's more than worth it the way my wife looks at me :)

I see this and instantly think it's a innuendo for jacking off.

Nice. Fitness is a hobby that pays for itself with the chemicals in the brain. You're in Canada, right? How do you find the lack of sun over the winter on your mood and appetite, like it takes soooo much food to upkeep when lifting. The ammount of food I was buying when I used to lift and the ammount of time I spent preparing the food dwarfs the three actual hours spent actually lifting but the main reason is the lack of sun here during the winter, progressive depression that gets deeper until spring and the mood just isn't there by the time October or November sets in to get motivated for even cardio. I know the exercise would lift the mood but since it doesn't lift the appetite it's counter productive to the health with keeping on weight. How do you deal with the lack of sun? Is it as bad as here in Ireland? We are barely getting summers anymore, might get enough sun to lift the mood if we are lucky but it's becoming rarer and rarer.

Also, these are great hobbies and very productive. Reading is one I plan on getting back into to help put the mind in order as well as writing, I started using audible and that was a big mistake, I can't even remember half the books I listened to and confuse them for the same books, they all blend together.

Considering my PFP anime is naturally a big one. I love animation in general but Japan are truly the kings at that.

Gym, cinema, and learning about the visual arts and storytelling. After a lot of procrastinating the latter includes practical application as I've picked creative software back up.
