Forums - Sony Discussion - Tides of Annihilation announced at State of Play

This looks really good. Not sure if it's Playstation exclusive or multi, but since it was announced at State of Play... Here you go.

Probably not going to be anything special, but I liked the trailer. It reminds me of (modern) Final Fantasy games but in the UK.

It looks like something between souls games and bta games.

Ok, early on you do get the vibes you're watching the trailer for a FF game in the lines of what FFXIV did and then suddenly bam !

A mix of Action slash/Souls-ish heavy gameplay with a bit of traversal in one of those 3rd person behind the shoulder camera from Sony usual 1st party games.
I am intrigued

Looks interesting. Tentatively in.

I like this trailer quite a bit, I hope it turns out great

11 minutes of gameplay:

I was less impressed by this footage than the reveal trailer (execution feels lacking to me). At least action games are starting to hop off the Souls wagon for a change.

My first throught was final fantasy like... then it turned into "wait... this is actually bayonetta" :)

edit:
The combat and visuals look pretty good.
What will kill this, is the voice acting and story... if its not gripping enough.
Watching that gameplay video posted above, I'm not sure about the story, and the voice acting brit voice was annouying me.
Also all the cuts....was getting jarring... like why can't it just smoothly go in one flow.
looks like they went with red paint, instead of yellow :p  (ei. hit this thing)
(also the puzzles, were solved, by the girl voice, before you even had a chance to think it out)

Yeah gameplay video, kinda turned down my hype levels abit.

Voice acting is good, it's the writing that is cringe. I already hate Niniane and Mordred (talk less ffs!).

The combat in the uncut video doesn't impress me so far. Looks simple, overly flashy, and just lacking in feel. But I also wasn't impressed by Phantom Blade Zero's gameplay before they improved it. So with more time in the oven and listening to viewer feedback, the final product may be much better than it seems.

I mean, to me the actual showcase of the game was to flex on its graphics mostly. I did not expect a rich combat system from the looks of the initial trailer either.
They've got time to make it mean more substance than flash, but I ain't holding much my breath there
