I would be careful to expect some sort of blow out of support from third parties when it comes to any Nintendo console. At the end of the day Nintendo consoles are first party driven, third parties are committed to PC, PS and Xbox pipeline. And AAA publishers are increasing their ambition and making CPU heavy games like MH Wilds and GTA 6 that in all likelihood will never come to Switch 2.

I think Switch 2 can increase third party support, in that studios like Atlus that mostly skipped porting their games to Switch may port more games to Switch 2, but its clear that Capcom and others won't take Switch 2 into account when they make a new AAA game. I still think that late ports will be much more common than day and date releases of big third party games, and many will skip even a late port and not port the game at all to Switch 2.

Hoping it will be better than Switch 1's third party support but feeling like it could be similar which I am okay with.

Wait I thought you guys thought all third-party games were HD dudebro trash?

I do think support will be better due to the success of Switch, more modern specs, and advances in resource stretching tech like DLSS, but we're also seeing a divide happen now due to ray tracing; games that forego raster altogether for a ~full ray tracing setup perform horribly if you don't have lots of VRAM, which the Switch 2 obviously won't. The new tech should allow Switch 2 to play most of the kinds of games we've seen up to this point (with enough work by developers), but it will likely run into a hard cap on its support as more games next gen fully embrace ray and path tracing.

I actually do look at most Western games this way.  Not indies, but Western AAA games are usually pretty trashy.

Looking back at this, that direct made me feel like Switch 2 will now be a go-to device for 3rd party games, we'll have to see if this continues once the PS6 and next Xbox release but the Switch 2 ended up being way more powerful than I expected and is getting many games I didn't think would make the jump

It's already looking like a significant improvement over Switch 1, with the likes of Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, FF7 Remake, Star Wars Outlaws, Borderlands 4, Split Fiction, Street Fighter 6, Wild Hearts, Kunistu-Gami, etc all arriving in the first six months or so; even at its peak, Switch 1 never got that level of AAA support.
