I never had a problem with my friends doubting the power of Gamecube; Rogue Leader was proof positive on day one.

Yes it was. Just in-cre-di-ble graphics.

But many never saw it, cause bro, GTA.

A friend of mine worked at Toys R Us at the beginnig of the 00s. When he told a costumer that the GC was more powerful than the PS2 he got into trouble. There where so many PS2 fanboys around at that time... many peoole till seriously believe that the GC was inferior to the PS2. Its the uneducated worker class and teenies.

Yeah misinformation about console power was and still is rife. The GC was already more powerful than the PS2 and the Wii is basically a Gamecube Pro, yet people in the 7th gen still insisted that the Wii was on par with the PS2.

Same thing this gen, with many insisting the Switch was on par with PS3/360 despite mountains of software demonstrating it outperformed them.

Usually it's just people believing what they want to believe and downplaying the "enemy" brand to prop up the one they prefer.

What's really odd about that is that there were plenty of games that released on both the PS2 and the Wii where the Wii had substantially better graphics than the PS2 versions, like Silent Hill Shattered Memories, Sonic Unleashed, and The Force Unleashed.

It's honestly not surprising when you think about it. It was "almost" pre-youtube and way before the digital foundary era of tech breakdowns. Peoples appreciation of graphics and assessment of them was a lot more approximated and assumed, they didn't watch direct comparisons, it was mostly just going off vibes outside of a very core/forum orientated audience. I genuinely miss that. I remember when something crazy would happen in a game and it would cause slowdown and that wouldn't be perceived as some failure of the developer but instead a reflection of how intense that attack/explosion was lol

Still to this day I think its way overestimated how much the average gamer perceives most presentation details in modern games, just social media amplifies everything and puts a magnifying glass on flaws for people to react to and feel cheated over.

I'm hoping Switch Pro Controllers are b/c with the Switch 2.

Exactly, plus even in its first year Wii had games like Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 that surpassed anything on the PS2.

As Otter says though, it was a different time, social media/youtube/etc wasn't what it was today. Sadly, even with the advent of these things in the current era, there was still a fair bit of nonsense about the Switch being on par with PS3/360. I expect even if Switch 2 outperforms PS4/XO they'll be a lot of nonsense about it being "on par with last gen" as well. I guess haters gonna hate.

So far we have rumors/leaks that Elden Ring, Final Fantasy 7 Remake + Rebirth, Diablo 4, Starfield, Call of Duty, Tekken 8, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Halo Master Chief Collection are all headed to Switch 2: https://gonintendo.com/contents/44687-rumor-diablo-4-starfield-elden-ring-more-heading-to-switch-2

Much better third party support than Switch had early on, for obvious reasons. Halo on Nintendo in particular would certainly be hella cool to see.

If thats true Nintendo could go all in for Switch 3 and give us a full next gen console as a Switch 2 sucessor in a few years. I do hope there's a Switch 2 Pro!! I am not sure if all of that is true but rumors don't come from nowhere... Call Of Duty is coming 100% MS signed a deal with Nintendo! All Activision games including COD have to come to Nintendo plattforms for the next 10 years and for Playstation 5 (6) COD 10 years!! COD for Switch (2) is 100% confirmed! No way they can cancel that!! Or it would be against the contract!

Looks like Elden Ring will pass 40 million lifetime. It can possibly reach that milestone without new ports, but a Switch 2 version guarantees it I feel. FromSoftware's growth is super satisfying, now please bring Sekiro to Switch 2 and announce the PS6 sequel!

Conversely, a BC Switch 2 Pro Controller with Hall Effect features that make drifting a thing of the past would get a S2 in my house a lot faster. I'm so used to dealing with drift in my controller that whenever I switch to a console or controller that doesn't have it, it feels weird not having to lean the analog sticks in a certain direction every few moments to fix it. I'm like a smoker that doesn't know what to do with his hands when he's not holding a cigarette, lol.

Thankfully havent experienced drift in any of my current gen controllers.

Mainly my PS2 and Gamecube controllers but that was like 10+ years of use lol.
