Forums - Gaming - The Best Video Game Music of 2025

I kind of missed the fact that Hades 2 released this year, probably because it had been out on early access since last year. Still, the score is expectedly excellent.

Probably my game soundtrack of the year:

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Not enough examples for Donkey Kong Bananza.

This one song from Europa Universalis V.

Kudos to the foreboding multilingual chanting.

I've rarely been impressed by video game music, but I feel like Farthest Frontier has a phenomenal soundtrack that creates the perfect vibe when playing the game - and it sounds great outside the game too, but it's a perfect fit for the game.

Already the main menu music, which is a bit on the shorter side, gives a good sample of what's to come:

This one is probably my favourite:

This is a bit more melancholic, so I don't love it as much personally, but it might be even better (and perhaps even more fitting in a game where hardships are normal):

I haven't played a lot of 2025 games yet, but this definitely beats Ghost of Yōtei so far (and I'm loving Ghost of Yōtei otherwise and don't have anything bad to say about the music either). I suspect Death Stranding 2 will eventually be a strong contender for me personally, but if the first game is anything to go by, Farthest Frontier might just have it beaten (for me at least).

In case anyone is interested in survival city-builders, or perhaps even just city-builders in general, I suggest looking up Farthest Frontier. Its soundtrack might be the best thing about the game, but it's really good otherwise too.

This is what should have also been mentioned in the start of this thread when including Donkey Kong Bananza.

Adding all of these to the list.
