Man so many ups and downs

I would say its a 7 only because of the best thing that happened to me happened this year otherwise it would have been like a 3 or 4.

The positives and negatives...

+Daughter was born
+The home builder for my house decided to grant me the warranty, more than $30,000 for home foundation repairs
+Got myself a new gaming PC

-My father passed away and his funeral costs were over $17,000 which I paid out of pocket.
-Due to my father passing away, his relatives tried to screw me over by not showing up to his funeral and lying to people saying I didnt invite them. I've officially cut them out and dont consider them family, the assholes have for years screwed my father over stressing him out, leaving him out of family events/holiday events, feeding him lies, and were direct contributors to his mental health going south.
-House foundation damage seen, it took 2 months of going back and forth discussion , really stressful
-Gained a lot of weight due to my father's death
-Had to pay $1,000 to get my Truck's compressor and other maintenance
-Had to pay $2,000 to get my AC Coil replaced for my 2nd floor of my house
-Had to pay $3,000 to fix a sewage water pipe that was leaking in my front yard
-Paid for my mom's flight so she can bury my dad in India however there was a issue with her ticket and due to that she couldnt board the airplane so had to cancel the ticket which cost $2,000 to reschedule next day, and that ticket was $3,000.
-Booked 4 tickets (3 adults + 1 baby) for a flight next year that cost over $6,000. Going to India to baptize our baby.
-Most of my savings got ate up cause of the costs of everything

------------

Goals for 2025.

*Lose weight
*Work on increasing my savings like I did for the last 3 years
*Baptize our baby at my Church where I was baptized in India (planned)
*Visit Dubai for a few days (planned)
*Prep for our next child since we want more children
*Study and get certifications (IT)
*Find a higher paying job
*Not stress or have to go through hell I went through in 2024 when it came to issues and payment of those issues
*Get a bigger refrigerator
*Getting Switch 2 day 1! (lol)

2024 was a shit show, literally the worst year of my life. Was in agonizing pain the entire year, 3 surgeries and the last one went horribly. Still in pain

2025 goals

Health

  • Lose Weight (I'm targeting 80 lbs)
  • Maintain a healthy sleep schedule (this is probably going to be the hardest)
  • Have a diet consisting mostly of whole foods
  • Join the gym
  • NO energy drinks

Other

  • Get Partnered on youtube
  • Play more games (barely played any in 2024)
  • Find a job that doesn't make me want to shoot myself
  • Daily FWB situation
  • Maybe smile and enjoy life every now and then
  • Oh and Save money!

My father passed away on October 28th of complications from cancer, so its been tough. But that is the circle of life as they say. Hard to rate a year when something like that happens. Its good to be surrounded by family to share your grief with.

I dont really have any goals for 2025, but lose weight and become more healthy and social is always a good thing, so I will try harder to do that. Otherwise just try and enjoy life

3/10. Was the worst year of my life, and no one even died (not that there's been much death in my life anyway). I'm rarely stressed at all or almost at all, but this year was very stressful and exhausting because of reasons. I'm actually surprised my mental health is still OK, or at least I think so. I don't really want to get into the exact reasons in public though, so enough of that.

For 2025, I don't really have very precise goals, just like I never do. I have some wishes, which I'm not confident are going to become true, at least yet:

  • Finally make a game. It doesn't have to be huge, but I want it to be a proper game instead of just a minuscule toy project. The main thing is getting started and getting a good feel for the tools though.
  • Have a vacation abroad.
  • Get rich. This is very unlikely to happen, but if I do end up releasing a successful game, it could happen. Work as it stands is quite time-consuming and tiring, and I'd like the freedom some wealth could offer me. I also hate the technical debt and how it's looking like we might be able to start tackling the annoying parts of technical debt only in 2026 or 2027, depending on how our priorities evolve. I generally like my job quite a bit, but some parts are just awful and stupid - but I digress. Like I said, I realize getting rich is very unlikely to happen, especially considering my wishes for the game.

So, not really goals, but more like wishful thinking. A proper goal might be getting the game properly started and getting some good progress too, and maybe finishing it in 2026, but we'll see.

i voted 1.

2024 would have been good for me if only i didn't have a scooter accident leaving me unable to walk for who knows long...

On that 28 th of december, my year, next year and perhaps my life have been changed forever.

My 2020-2022 were pretty rough for me, to sum up (2/10). The bottom just sort of fell out all at once. I guess I was unprepared b/c just before that I had been coasting by for most of the 2010s without much hardship and fairly happy/content - then the troubles all kind of came at once. My pay went down, issues with friends and family. My good friend moved across the country. Sister who I'm close with moved away. Gained a ton of weight. Cousin and best friend got depressed. My friend's wedding - one of the few good times I had in this period - my other friend seized out pretty bad and stopped the whole show. It started to feel like a sick joke - like almost everything happening around me was designed to make me irritated, angry, demoralized and/or sad - is the best way I could put it. I just started seeing nothing but bad in society and my own life. And as such, while I'm not terribly proud to admit it, I went through a phase of sort of hating humanity and myself. I drank a lot and smoked weed to sort of escape and self medicate. Bit of a mid-life crisis I guess you could say - with career/financial, social, physical, and mental issues and hardships - spurred partly by an increased isolation from COVID lockdowns and just a general aimlessness and uncertainty. Depression and anxiety kicked in pretty big.

Everything since those couple years has been a slow/mild yet pretty consistent improvement/incline, and that's remained steady in 2024 overall. Nothing revolutionary but progress.

2023 and 2024 was more like a 5/10. I did get a bit more social and reconnect a little so to speak, worked out some more, recaptured at least *some* of my lost motivation, hung out with one of my best friends a few times and met his new daughter which brought me some joy. Got a raise. Went on a couple dates. I had a couple fun vacations, went to an awesome concert. Still sort of down from where I had been the previous decade but not at a super low, soul-sucking level anymore.

In 2025 I hope to continue with healthier habits both physically and mentally, and find that "fire" again as it were. Continue on the trajectory essentially, but maybe ramp things up a bit more. Go out more, exercise more. Take a few classes. Be more productive and maintain a moderate sense of urgency, keeping a vision of the big picture, but also keeping an even keel and taking things day by day. More balance in my life, you might say. Separate and "detoxify" from certain hindering things like alcohol and excessive internet/social media use. Read more books. Try to be more positive and return to seeing more of the good in life. Take things more in stride, as I have a tendency to let even tiny things DEEPLY affect me sometimes. Recognize that hardships WILL inevitably happen, but now I think I'm more prepared to deal with them and stay fairly grounded.

I look at 2025 more as the year I get back on the right track, while 2026 I'll get the train really going :P

What system do you play now if you sold your PS5?

Kinda meh. I really can't complain, I'm healthy and ok and everything. But I also can't say that there weren't some major disappointments. The death of Nawalny hit me harder than I thought it would have. A little bit of hope died in me that day. The same goes for the US elections. I almost got depressed after Trump won that thing. I lost a lot of faith into the USA as the defender of the free world. On top of that, I look with fear at Nazis gaining more and more votes here in germany. It's just so frustrating that all this nationalism bullshit is coming again and humanity has learned nothing at all from history.

So yeah, politics sucked ass in 2024. But other than that I'm fine.
