Since the release of the first Monster Hunter title in 2004 for the PlayStation®2, the series has sold a total of 7.4 million units (as of April 24, 2008) and is one of our most valued titles at Capcom.

Well, according to their own list of million sellers Monster Hunter Freedom sold 1.15M (probably worldwide, but I assume almost all of those copies were sold in Japan). So the 700k number might be an error.
