Forums - Gaming - Gaming is better than any other art medium, true or false? (Poll)

Gaming is the highest art form...

True 14 37.84%

False 21 56.76%

No opinion/elaborate in comments. 2 5.41%

Total:37

I find it to be the pinnacle of art which incorporates all other media's of art into one piece, sometimes they don't hit the mark like with every medium but when they do they trump all else.

Lots of people disagree with this, what say you?

There is no such thing as "the definitive/highest form of art".

Subjective. I would say probably not, just because it's not accessible to many, and takes a lot of time to play through which many don't have time or desire for. Not that going to Louvre is all that accessible either to someone economically challenged living in in another country.

Its better than art.

You need to be a little more specific when you say "Gaming is better than any other art medium" or "Gaming is the highest art form". By what metrics? Saying something is "better" is about as useful as asking whether a video game console is a home/portable console. The interpretation of such question is fully subjective, and b/c of this subjectiveness, the blanket 'Yes' or 'No' response also doesn't really lend itself well here.

You can ask people subjective questions. What's your favourite video game is extremely subjective. The game awards are subjective. Hell, everything is subjective accept the laws of mathematics.

I think it's honestly probably music. Nothing can elicit an emotion/feeling faster than music, hearing a song that you haven't heard in a long time that instantly takes you back to a time and place is pretty unique.

Yeah to an extent video games and movies and TV can do that also, but not so instantly.
