I somewhat agree so far but you can't demy that it's all very cool and spectacle like, I've never been so amused and emotionally twisted so early in an FF game before. But this isn't like an FF game, it's like they built side content for FF14 online but polished it to high heaven and forgot to but in the full list of cool downs. I'm having very bavk luck picking games after Stellar Blade despite their scores on OC. If WuKong and Astrobot faul to impress me I'll be very disapointment with 9th gen, well I am fairly disappointed already. Weird thing is, despite DD2s flaws I feel a pull to return to it and finish it. Oddly enough. |
The emotional beats in FF16 did not hit for me, because they never managed to make me care about the characters. They are so wooden and boring. They just spout off this perfectly moral dribble and they have no personality that I could describe to anyone that asked. It's like they went for a western, more serious and high flying literary presentation, but went too hard and lost any personality in the process.

Yeah, maybe so. I am having a tough time getting hooked on it.

Let me know what you think of DS when you get around to it. I played it for 5 hours straight yesterday. Made it up to something like delivery #15, and am sick of the game. I probably won't go back to playing it again. I cannot in good conscious recommend DS. I consider it and Horizon Zero Dawn to be my biggest disappointments of this gen. I wish I hadn't bought them both on blind faith years ago. Here's what I don't like about DS: too many cut scenes, especially at the start, and they all feel like their too long (nothing new for a HK game). A main story that doesn't interest me. Complicated controls, way too many options, clunky combat, and uninteresting enemies. At the end of the day, it is what people have said: a walking simulator. It is nothing like the MGS games. No thanks. Yeah, it had a certain charm to it with all the peaceful traversing and the music and the scenery. But the plot made no sense whatsoever and the world felt empty and lifeless. Which I guess was deliberate to an extent, but does it make for an enjoyable gaming experience? I think it can be better and I hope the second game is significantly improved. |

So what did you think of it? Did you beat it?
I'm currently in a bit of a lull, because I'm waiting for some RPGs to be fully patched before I start playing them. I might check out Darkest Dungeon 2 in the meantime, because I liked the first one.
I recently finished King Arthur: A Knight's Tale and I loved it. If you like turn based strategy on a grid like X-COM and what have you, I daresay you will like this.
