Forums - Sony Discussion - Your favourite experience or wow moment with PS5 so far?

I've had a lot of fun with my PS5, but one of my first memories that will stick with me is just being so tickled at how good it felt to walk or skate on ice and glass as Astro Bot with those cute little tippy taps and satisfying glides.

Things that have not exactly wow'd me but impressed me so far.

  • The BC for PS4 games is vast, almost all my games carry over even demos from long ago with just a few missing.
  • The ammount of free upgrades to PS5 versions for games I already own. Particularly The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk which are like free remasters.
  • The PS+ Catalogue actually paying for it's subscription fee with titles like Returnal, Rift apart, Demon souls, Dead Space and many other big name games.
  • The haptics in Astros Playroom and Returnal specifically as well as more use of the controllers speaker which no dev used on the ps4.
  • The SSD for instant fast travel, not so much loading which is cool but I never found loading screens to be such a bad thing.
  • 60 FPS modes on almost all games I've tried. TW3 is finally so smooth and silky to play. Love it.
  • The UI is super fast and smooth, Making me realise how sluggish the PS4 PRO was or perhaps had gotten over time. Everything down to typing in text or browsing YouTube is all so flawlessly smooth.
  • The timer for all games played going right back to the start of PS4, Idk how they pulled that off and it being relatively accurate too. A wii feature back in the day but appreciated to see once again.
  • Percentages on trophies and progress meters for games as well as the tips and help feature, idk how useful that'd be though.
  • PS button brings up everything you need in the easiest menu on a PS console ever, so easy and everything is all there, no need to go out of the way.
  • A wishlist finally able to keep an eye on the games you're waiting for a sale on.

There are a few complaints I have, like the UI only holding 10 games and the ability to only pin 5. No themes. Game screens are basically ads for games. The whole system seems like it's designed to be the PSN store and that feels not so premium but it is cool to have an over all system search function. The feeling like your friends aren't there anymore, they're just a tab in game base or a small widget and there is no sense of community like with the "what's new" tab on ps4. Trophy lists are really hard to figure out what you've unlocked on the list, over designed UI makes it hard to read. Game ads everywhere, it the PS tab, on the widgets, on the screens for the games you own trying to sell you add ons... that's not shouting premium console. Feels cheap. Just lack of customization on the console as a whole.

People be telling me to play the ps4 version on ps5 for 60 fps.

Matrix demo , astro with haptics , returnal with its haptics and 3d audio. Cybperpunk night city looks amazing on ps5. Shame sony messed up on potential. They'd rather give us a pro console and remasters instead of "next gen' experiences

Yeah, it really does feel like PS4 2 instead on a successor to ps4 doesn't it.

A lot of posts here have me excited! Soon I'll join you guys... soon...

Nothing so far except the consoles monolithic size and the adaptive triggers... Xbox One and Nintendo Switch had haptics for awhile, so nothing really new on that front... But feeling resistance in the triggers is cool, reminds me of force feedback on PC peripherals going back a few decades, but adapted to a console controller.

I guess with all games being on PC these days, it's hard to impress me with graphics on a console... The PS5 is more like a Super Playstation 4 Pro... And I guess that's not a bad thing either.

Oh, Legendary tales does look good and I've heard nothing but praise for pavlov. I have RE4 on Quest 2... Eh, it's nothing compared to RE7 and I doubt RE8 is either cause the game just isn't scary, RE7 was legit scary flat screen but in VR ... wow. Oh and yeah, I loved moss, would like to play the sequel. I suppose it really comes down to the pricing, if they knock it in half I'm probably in.

I like the look of the cube game you shared in some other thread, it looked like Minecraft, what was that one called? Oh and is there anything mind bending on psvr2, like Transpose the game where you solve puzzles with previous versions of your self and your actions, that one messed with my head in the best possible way.

PSVR2 has RE4 remake, but yeah it's not scary, more an action shooter. RE8 does have some scary moments and makes excellent use of HDR.

That's CyubeVR, mostly building and exploring, no survival elements nor enemies added yet. (You can shoot the deer which fly up and explode like fireworks, place holder lol)

The last Clockwinder is sort of mind bending as you record versions of yourself to make a production chain. It's a Quest game as well.
It takes good planning, good timing and good aim!

That's one of the earlier puzzles, each little robot it a recording of you set on a 1, 2 or 4 second loop.

Synapse uses eye tracking as a form of mind control, which is pretty cool.

Thanks for the info man. I might have to treat myself to a Christmas present for GT7 and at least there are solid games on the system so it won't be a cknolete one game machine, CyubeVR and Synapse look right up my ally and I wouldn't mind relaxing in that kyak game as meditation. Cheers. 👊
