Was this the last big Wii U that was not yet ported to the Switch?
Nice I'll be able to have all 4 games on Switch, need to start playing them sometime tho lol.

Funny to see when Nintendo remaster a game the response is either good or neutral but when Sony does it the response is overwhelming hate, lol.

That mainly due to Sony's own fanbase. They are the ones letting themselves get worked up over ports or remasters, Nintendo fans don't care and will either buy it or not
The first look at the graphical differences with the original release. The time of day differences make it even more difficult to determine how much things have improved, but there are some differences that are visible in this side by side comparison. Character models are changed, with different eye shapes and more advanced hair rendering. Textures on the weapons and ground are slightly improved. There seems to be less aliasing and possibly better lighting, though it's difficult to say for sure. Compared to XC1 it's not a huge jump, which is to be expected given that the Switch isn't that much more powerful than the Wii U, but it's not nothing.

What are you talking about? The game ran at native 720p, which for the Wii U was pretty standard, and it ran at a very stable 30fps, which was also pretty standard. The only things that could be criticized is the lack of collisions for some elements of New LA and the need to install part of the game on the console's memory. Digital Foundry even praised the game for being a technical marvel on the Wii U. Of course, there was room for improvement, and this remastered shows. But for a Wii U game, the original ran perfectly fine and the resolution was good. |
Thats weird... could have sworn I ran into performance issues, and like stutter and lag at times.
The one thing I disliked the most about this game is the online portion, including the achievements it had tied to it. Oh, and the heavy grinding for materials to build a skell. Which was probably so heavy because they wanted to give more purpose to the online portion that could work as a shortcut.
But most of this game was still very good to great, so it's a worthy addition to the Switch library. Not sure if I am going to buy it, will depend on what they change and how they change it. One thing is for sure, they'll overhaul the screentext in both size and font because they took that criticism to heart when they developed XC2 and XC3.
Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.
And another graphics comparison that lines up the times of day better for a better comparison, so the texture improvements are more apparent in the early scenes. One interesting change is that in both comparisons Elma's hair blows in the wind in the Wii U version but not the Switch version, likely a consequence of the change to hair rendering.

Sure, but lots of people that don't have a Playstation make sure to hate on it everytime too, tho.
I usually don't care either, I have both the Wii U and the Switch and will eventually get it on Switch when I do.
I preffer playing the original versions almost always but have been getting some remasters/definitive versions on Switch, either because it's easier having less consoles or playing with the Pro Controller is much better than it was on Wii or Wii U.

The original Wii game when remastered for the Switch also lost wind movement on trees that were present in the original version.

Switch isn't backwards compatible with any system. That's one of the big differences. People are getting tired of remasters on PS5 because not only do most PS4 games look better than any Wii U or Switch game, but they can also be played on PS5 already.
