Forums - Gaming - Male or female in character creators?

I choose...

Only male 9 18.37%

Only female 3 6.12%

An even mix of both 14 28.57%

Ainly male, sometimes female 15 30.61%

Mainly female, sometimes male 7 14.29%

Whatever the default is, ... 1 2.04%

Total:49

Whatever is the smaller option, so it blocks less screen space.

If it's first person I don't care, just take the default. 3rd person, small, short, camera far away preferred.

Don't get in the way of my view!

Exactly! This is my thinking too a lot of the time. As much as I want to look cool in FF14 online and play the fashion game playing ad the smallest dwarf race in the game has so many gameplay effecting upsides it's hard not to choose the little dudes.

It is one of my biggest pet peeves in Gears of War and God of War. Broad shouldered giant dudes, default camera close behind, get out of my way!

I did play a female character for a while in Everquest, a female Cleric named Rauna.

It was interesting to see how much more attention she got, random gifts etc. It did get kinda uncomfortable when the guild leader started chatting me up. Sorry I'm not a real female, just a boring straight imposter.

My main character was an Erudite, Gazzook.

I'm not black either, yet Erudites had the highest int stat, good for enchanters. The giant bald forehead matches though lol.

And then I would turn everyone into frogs, nice small, out of the way

It's so odd for me people play like this because for me those things are distracting as hell. I always find myself starring to the women boobies and butts and lose immersion and concentration

I saw people playing BG3 with their companions all naked and I can't see myself playing without staring Shadowheart or Astarion bootycheeks all the time

Well according to my ex-roomie, it was like: "I'd rather stare at something nice, than something boring that doesn't jiggle". I could never understand him, despite me also being a weeb (though he was a hardcore Japanophile, you know, eats with chopsticks, speaks some Japanese phrases, that type of guy).

I only find it distracting if it's a game where it's just the body physics of a character that go all over the place, and nothing else in-game having that level of physics (which is rare to see).

Oh yeah, naked runs on BG3 are a thing. Some folks on a disco server I'm on are a bit like that. I like to dress my characters in style rather than with less clothing.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

You met your wife through the game or what?

Yep, she's the reason I moved halfway across the world.

We met in East Commonlands in 1999 lol.

I was working from my new home in Canada from 2002, online with 6 hour time difference to the main office. Which was actually quite beneficial as I could continue work on finding and fixing bugs that were found during the day back in Holland. Then they had the fixes by the morning (to find more problems) Also since we were expanding to sell our products in NA, it was very useful to have a close perspective on road navigation here. (I worked on GPS navigation)

Downside was, for 2 years I was paying full taxes both in Holland and Canada as my work situation was so new. They hadn't figured out yet where income tax should be taken, so both countries took it at first... (It's the country you live in, Holland reimbursed me after 2 years)

Nice one. It's always good to hear of love blooming on the Battlefield.

Life imitating art. We started the game on opposite ends of the world, me in Odus, her in Faydwer. At around level 10 we both made the journey to the middle, Freeport (East side of Antonica), where we met. Then I followed her back to Faydwer before we set of adventuring together in Kunark and Velious.

It'd be cool if the game got the WOW classic treatment and let people experience it again, maybe with upgraded graphics. I bet there'd be a market for that.

And this is what created the magic

Stuff takes forever: I know, I know, this isn't really upside. But Brad McQuaid (rest well, Aradune) famously said he wanted meditating for health and mana to take a long time to foster social relationships between players, and it works. You can go get a cup of coffee, answer an email, or have a chat with your Warrior about their cat. You just don't get this kind of lull in modern games, and I can't tell you how many real conversations I've had with real humans because we had to wait a minute or two on a mana bar.
