Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu Sales: Week 39, 2024 (Sep 23 - Sep 29)

In the main post, which would you rather see first?

Software 16 50.00%

Hardware 9 28.13%

Don't care 7 21.88%

Total:32

The LTD number for all consoles is 74.732.883 but if we sum NSW, PS5, XBS and PS4's LTD numbers, we don't get to that number. Is there something that I didn't get?

The section with the separate SKUs only lists the base PS4. PS4 Pro is no longer being tracked and is thus not listed. That's where the discrepancy lies.

It seems that the overall total for all consoles still includes 3DS, even though it's not tracked weekly anymore.

Switch: SW-3707-5131-3911
XBox: Kenjabish

With digital this is probably the 2nd biggest opening for a Zelda game in japan no ? Pretty great imo.

And just like that Zelda EoW has outsold Asstrobot lifetime sales in Japan in just a week. And more than 10x sales at that. Once the dust settles it will show how Asstrobot ate Zelda's dust WW. Asstrobot never had the chance. Facts.

Awwwww... You seem so desperate for someone to notice and respond to you. I'll be a nice guy and help you out. <3 Ahem.

Oh no! How dare you insult Astrobot like that! It's the bestest game ever! I am crying right now while hugging my Ken Kutaragi body pillow. That's how much your post upset me it sure did!

How was that? <3

How does this opening compare to previous entries for Zelda?

Zelda FW Comparison:

  • Tears of the Kingdom - 1,119,502
  • Breath of the Wild (Wii U + Switch) - 238,112
  • Majora's Mask 3D - 236,536
  • Link Between Worlds - 225,418
  • Echoes of Wisdom - 200,121
  • Skyward Sword - 194,894
  • Ocarina of Time 3D - 182,998
  • Skyward Sword HD - 159,089
  • Link's Awakening 2019 - 141,375
  • Triforce Heroes - 58,594
  • Twilight Princess HD - 53,620
  • Wind Waker HD - 31,154

Second largest opening for a 2D Zelda, that's cool to see! Little bit underwhelming though seeing it underperform MM3D and LBW (and even BotW noting how small the installbase of NSW/WiiU was at launch). Thank you for this data!

Technically there have been a couple of bigger 2D Zelda launches (Link to the Past and the DS duo), but I figured 15 years of data was enough for a decent comparison.

In case you were curious, out of the 29 Zelda games there are First Week data from Japan for (dating back to the SNES), Echoes of Wisdom is #10 overall. If we limit the data to 2D entries, it's #5 out of 14.

If these numbers seem a bit low, I think it is worth remembering that Echoes of Wisdom is A) being released very late in the Switch's life and B) is not being released during one of the big shopping periods in Japan like around December or Golden Week.

Great start for Zelda!

Nice opening for Zelda and decent hardware boost for the Switch. Good to see PS5 back above 10k so hopefully it consistently stays above that in the coming months.
