We have a game about medieval Europe coming every month lol

God of War you might have had some people going nuts with Agraboda's reveal but overall I saw massive acclaim for that. Horizon has a bigger controversy now with the damn remaster of a 2017 game instead of having nixxes get some PS3 games running natively lol There's degrees to it but the TLOU2 and Spidey 2 examples are pretty much just the core writing of the game taking a nosedive even if there was 1 or 2 points that drew the most ire |
I agree that the writing nosedived in SM2,mostly because it tried too many things. With the whole dual protagonist thing and it had a lot of filler content.
For TLOU p2 I am not sure if the writing was all that bad, but the ending and the dual protagonist was surely controversial.
Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

The big example is The Last of US/TLoU2, but it has happened to Spiderman, God of War, Horizon, and now to Ghosts of Tsushima. Haven't played any of these myself, so I've only read about those enough to avoid spoilers, but the pattern is clear. |
The only pattern is what is happening in the world now, was Horizon Zero Dawn getting released the same day as Forbidden West did, being the first game, a lot of drama would be made about a woman being the lead of such a big game.
There are no controversies around any of those games except TLoU2, and that was a design choice.
The pattern is the increasing number of people calling "woke", as if it was a bad term, to whatever they fell like is not pushing their agenda.
Politics got completely out of hand, people are delusional and getting worse by the day, just look how many people think the earth is flat, the point is to question and reject anything thal doesn't fit your agenda.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is not a Sony game and look at what is happening to it. Concord is not a sequel and look at what happened to it. Many games from vastly different developers and publishers are facing this stupidity nowdays.
Being a Sony developed sequel has nothing to do with being a pattern to generate controversy.

No, there is controversy with every one of them that is a sequel, even GTA 7 got hit hard but to hit DarwinEvolutions point home about it being the second outings, look at how returnal got away scott free from controversy. There was the peach fuzz/ugly Aloy controversy as well as her lesbian romances and general attacks on her being a weak character. God of War Rognorok had a hullabaloo about compmanions calling out puzzles, playing as actress, especially that certain level and that Kratos has become so milktoast and the series is now family friendly action. Hell divers 2 is the rare sequel that had no one hating on it.
TLOU2 screenplay is amazing and the story is miles ahead of 1 in complexity. I've always found TLOU1 ending pretty nonsensical. The writers need something to justify Joel entering in a killing sphree to save Ellie and couldn't get something better than removing her brain to produce a cure because of... reasons
Great, another thread now bringing your shitty politics into this same exact game. What is that four threads now?
This was the only one not pulling that shit until now.
To hell with the lot of you (both sides). You want to discuss politics, take that shit to the politics section.
You know what, do whatever you want, fuck ya'll.
...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

??? Please explain. What four threads?
Last edited by LegitHyperbole - on 28 September 2024TLoU2 is meh. Politics had nothing to do with it. The game was too long and had awful pacing. Abby was a terrible character and poorly designed.

I'm not sure if Helldivers 2 fits the description (it is not a big narrative game, nor is it a 1st party after all), but it still got all of the controversy. The massive consumer revolt due to Sony's accounts, and afterwards, complains about the community managers/mods and the gameplay balances going into different directions from what the userbase wants.
