Forums - Nintendo - Fun fact on the Switch cartridge slot.

I don’t think anyone’s ever brought up this little Easter egg. I always thought it was a little cool thing. So every standing Nintendo home console system that used cartridges always had the label facing towards you (including the redesigned Nes). While every Nintendo handheld had the cartridges label facing away from you. Always thought it was pretty cool that they had the switch games mimic previous home consoles in that way.

Oh, it's not a nod toward the Atari Lynx doing that? brb got to edit a Wiki

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

I honestly never thought of that.

Hum neat I guess, but it's also not something I ever thought of when I was slothing my cartridges in my consoles 😅

It's because they knew it would face out, and you would easily be able to see what you were playing. Also marketing (every time you were out in public, playing your Gameboy, everyone could see you having fun with ___ game, thus free advertising). Smart business move.

It's obviously done that way so that it's easier to swap games while the system is docked (or popped up with the kickstand).

because it is a home console....
