2025 reveal and release
It will be revealed in early 2025 like Jan - March time period.
Some people are saying the reveal could be earlier, because they've done this before. For example, the original Switch reveal was in October 2016, but it's also true that Wii U sales were totally dead at that point. The main Nintendo holiday product in 2016 was the NES classic and not the Wii U. For holiday 2024 the main Nintendo product will still be the Switch, and a Switch 2 reveal in 2024 would undermine the holiday sales of their current console.
curl-6 bet me that PS5 + X|S sales would reach 56m before year end 2023 and he was right.

I'm in the "After the holidays" crowd. With how fast news travels these days, it doesn't take more than half a year to build awareness and hype. Meanwhile, Nintendo still has investors that want to maximize sales and profits now, so why hurt those targets in the short-term? Like TLL said, Nintendo had nothing to lose in 2016 because the Wii U was pretty much dead already and the NES Classic served a different market. At that point, Nintendo was fighting for any mindshare in the public consciousness. Things are different now.
They will announce in May or September and release in late october with big releases in November. Last switch big game will be released before summer 2025 and will be Pokemon legends.
Who knows. But selfishly, I wish it would have launched like... LAST YEAR! lol My Switch's fan crapped out ages ago, and I refuse to pay launch prices for a seven-year-old handheld (or to have it fixed), so I've been stuck without one for a long time.

I feel that. I dropped my Switch a few feet onto a carpeted floor last week (its first drop ever after 7 years) and when I worried it might be compromised, I wished for the darned Switch 2 to just come out already. It's fine, but still. I've been ready for Switch 2 to launch since March 2023, and I might even give that a grace period to November 2023 or March 2024 because of how COVID-19 disrupted things.
Still, Nintendo is clearly concerned of how to build up hype. Revealing Switch 2 before the holiday season won't have a major impact on Switch sales but it will still decrease them enough for Nintendo to potentially wait until January to March to unveil Switch 2.
How weird would it be if Nintendo announced Switch 2 in late March and then they're like "Surprise, it's out in early June". That's possible but still an unlikely turnaround because of lack of hype building and the inevitable leaks that would happen before the reveal.
Sega announced Saturn's North American release date for September 1995 in March, and then stealth dropped the console during E3 in May. Because of that, Saturn was dead on arrival in North America.
To reiterate my prediction is October with a stretch prediction of February and a bigger stretch prediction of March. I don't see the reveal happening April or later unless the console doesn't come out until at least September 2025, if not November.
Lifetime Sales Predictions
Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)
PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 48 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million)
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)
3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

I guess a small reveal is gonna be this year and then more deep-dive information will be shown during winter season (in January-February).
I don't consider that the first Switch 2's trailer this autumn will hurt Switch 1's sales in autumn 2024. The audiencies are different. People who want to buy almost pastgen System will eventually buy it because these people have already decided that they won't buy Switch 2 in the launch window. People who now expect Switch 2 will own it ASAP. There're just different groups of gamers.
Also it's interesting if Switch 2 will have full backwards compatibilty. If amost all games will be playable on Switch 2, so what's the point of buying Switch 1 today. The only reason is the possible big launch price of nextgen and some shortages of hardware.
The longer they wait the better, that way I can get more life out of the Switch I own and not feel like I need to spend hundreds replacing it.
Anytime between September and January basically. Assuming a first half of 2025 release a reveal within the next couple months followed by a big event in January would be great. It would hurt Switch sales some but would also build up a ton of hype. I do think a release in the 2nd half of the year would be a significant mistake since the Switch isn't gonna sell much throughout next year and delaying it past late 2024 is already pushing it a bit.

I'd like to think he wouldn't say it if he didn't actually hear it from at least a few developers and he was confident what he was being told wasn't an outright lie.
I have a hard time…
Chris Dring says that he's heard industry whispers that something Switch 2 related is happening this month.

In my opinion, Switch is Nintendo's greatest system ever and it isn't even close, but I'm ready to move on! pic.twitter.com/EtLpx4cVWr
Also seen many other sources confirming NSW2 reveal to be within the next month or two. Unsure tho…what do you think?
