Altered Beast?

Around the Network

I swear, if I got myself a penny for every time I heard that phrase in the past ~4 years.

What games were ambitious as this? the only other game was starfield and yea that was a dud.

Okay, I went on a deep dive into this. The game is not souls nor is it a boss gauntlet, the closest approximation seems to be a mix of both old and new God of War games but the vibe I've gotten myself is it seems very similar to the Nioh franchise but without all the HUD, UX and loot clutter and over design of systems. It's like a more polished Team Ninja experience. Idk if this is a good thing or a bad thing for people excited.
It also should be noted that it has a story and that's the main focus everything else is worked around, yet no word on an English dub or any sign of it. it also is very, very boss heavy so it'll feel almost like a boss gauntlet if you're a players who doesn't explore. I sense a lot of people are gonna be disappointed in this one because of expectations but it'll get good scores. I'll say 85 Opencritic.

It's one of hundreds of games based on Journey to the West 16th century book.

It's already the best selling game on steam. I have high hopes let's see.

Do you mean at a systems level or game design level cause I'd say Elden Ring is much more ambious than this, it just doesn't move quite as fast on screen.

Elden plays exactly like souls it didn't really do anything new other then make a fantastic open world game and they also really suck at making impressive graphics. Their games weren't top of the line graphically on ps4 and to see ps5 games look almost the same is very disappointing.

Tears of the Kingdom Ultra hand is the most ambitious mechanic in games in the last several years. Simply for how insanely hard that is to do for any developer. Something thought not possible on PS5 let alone Switch. Before someone says Banjo. It's not the idea that's the ambitious part. Banjo doesn't have the dynamic physics Ultra hand does. Ultra Hand has logistics in functioning mechanical devices. Not to mention collision detection is so tight it's mindblowing. And to think devs were blown away by the rope in TLOU2 and the perfect collision/animation of walking up stairs in Judgment.
