A game being popular in the world means it has to be popular in every individual country? Did the UK hold up its end of the deal for Animal Crossing New Horizons considering how insane it performed in Japan? This has to be the most childish logic I have ever seen, everyone is showing love but Japan lol. Did China show love? There is no obligation from consumers to show love just because something is popular in other countries. How about you grow up and accept PS failed. Make a better console and provide better games.

They really don't need  Japan the whole industry doesn't even care much for Japan, even monster hunter is pushing for the more western approach and choosing other console.  You seem to think this is a playstation problem but look at the top 15 developers in the  world and who really thriving there, yes it's only Nintendo.

As for childish logic, yea what you stated is childish logic but it's banger after banger that don't do much in Japan while the whole world loves them. I usually don't enter these threads cause yea Japan has crap gaming tastes but when  resident 4 remake, and sf6 are irrelevant it's a sad state for Japan gaming.

Third parties decided to stick with PS/Xbox for their big games. It’s just that the Nintendo Switch is the main console in Japan. Simple as that. The Switch, to Japan, is the main console of focus even over the more powerful PS4 and 5. I hope you wouldn’t have complained when the PS2 was the dominant console in Japan at the time even when there was compelling software from the GameCube.

It’s not just about tastes, which some seem to diss here on this thread, but also convenience. The Switch is convenient for millions of people in Japan. Not just in price, but in function. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Nintendo has brought some of the best games ever from their developers like Botw, Totk, Mario Odyssey, Smash Ultimate, AC New Horizons, MK8D, Super Mario Bros Wonder, etc. Then you have games like Splatoon being cultural phenomenons in Japan and Ring Fit Adventure gaining traction. And it’s not like third parties are left astray. Monster Hunter Rise showed that a big third party switch game can succeed in Japan, DQXIS did really well on Switch despite releasing later than the initial version on PS4/3DS, and Momotaro captured the nation. The Switch is the best selling console of all time in Japan whether you like it or not. It is what it is. SF6, Elden Ring, RE4R, FFVIIRebirth, FFXVI, etc., are quality games, they just weren’t enough to compel consumers in Japan to lean towards the PS5 over the Switch for one reason or another.

Some of that can be attributed to Sony themselves. Think of this, even as the PS4 dominated the previous generation, it only sold around 9 million units lifetime in Japan alone. It had all of the big third party titles under the sun from Japan, the Wii U and Xbone were irrelevant in Japan, the 3DS was trending behind the DS. It was all for the taking for the PS4. Then the Switch came along. The rest became history.

Japan has  never been  into home consoles much, even the ps2 being the best home console of all time with almost every third party game being exclusive including most big Japanese developers only sold 23 million in japan, it's always been nintendo domination by handheld.

Most of these guys for some reason leave out the portability factor. All they talk about are the games. The switch sold more than the wii, wii u, gamecube and n64 combined. The vita which sold 15-16m worldwide,  6m of that were sold in Japan.  That's over 1/3

Which is funny because the Switch is basically around the price of a home console from generations past and the big games are being sold at home console prices. Zelda Totk sold for the Japanese equivalent of $70 USD, yet did really well in Japan, a region where Zelda (before Botw) struggled to maintain relevance despite its great reputation.

Why are there 70+ posts on a random Famitsu Japanese sales chart? Lol.

Because a PS fanboy is hurt that the Switch dominates Japan. Apparently developers don't care about Japan lol, this dude genuinely believes he speaks for the entire world. I'm sure that is music to Nintendo's ears though because no other country on planet earth can give you over 30 million consumers besides the US and the other countries arent even close. Nintendo literally sells more in Japan than PS/Xbox sells in the US, that is a heck of an advantage and it pains the dude to see it. That's why the market seems sad because Nintendo dominates the console portion making them unbeatable globally.

Not gonna put names in, but you know who the actors are usually in this case when it happens.

It's a silly debate.

Nintendo performs well with a hardware and software lineup that appealed to the general Japanese populace, became extremely popular, from that people put unreasonable expectations for 3rd party to equal such performance despite the fact they don't sale their games on the same dynamic Nintendo does.

Of course, contrary to what's being said by one/two person, 3rd party games can do well here.

LOL i love you  keep using  console warring as a reason for someone might not be too happy about japan not really giving chances to most western games or how Japanese  franchises that were big there seeing huge declines. I would tell you this if resident evil 4 remake, or even fromsoftware were doing half of what they doing in the US, or Europe. i wouldn't complain but yea i'm a fanboy cause what i think are some of the best games ever made don't get enough love in japan is sad.
