They don't diss their own games because Nintendo games are their games lol. It's not their fault the games you want them to purchase don't release on the console they want to purchase. Playstation fans love dodging accountability, it's always everybody else's fault. If Nintendo games do poorly in the US, we don't call the market sad or even blame it. We always blame Nintendo but with Playstation it's always something else, it just can't be the console. The issue is Playstation, not the market or Japan's taste, it's Playstation failing to deliver a diserable platform.

Who's even talking about Playstation games here?

Yeah. That’s a sad state of affairs when ps5 has basically nothing coming out this year for first party or exclusives to the point no one is even talking about PlayStation games.

I am super hopeful for 2025 releases though, and gta 6 as well. Although not exclusive will at least be in the cultural ether and part of the conversation.

Should be an interesting fiscal next year!

The poster literally names games that release on PS and here you are acting dumb to defend the obvious console warrior talk. What us sad about the market if this isn't Playstation related? Stop it, we know what you both are doing, no one is blind. The market is sad because Playstation failed.

Multiplat games are not PS Games

Just checked, last week we has only 10 non Nintendo games in top 30. By non Nintendo I mean games not published by Nintendo. This also includes games released on Switch. Even publishers who releases games on Switch are nowhere close to sell as much as they used to sell in past, even on other Nintendo consoles

It's a Monopoly, that's the sad part of it

Edit: I just want we have some sales breakdown on how those games are selling on PC. Persona 3 sold 1 million copies at launch and less than 150k tracked by Famitsu, it's sad the IP finally got popular overseas to now become less relevant in Japan

Meh you have no clue of what your talking about, and making this making this into console wars talk. When amazing games or console fail in any region it's not a good thing, especially when we talk about such a big gaming culture. Nothing wrong with saying Japan could broaden it's tastes in gaming. Street fighter and resident evil are some most loved franchises in Japan and the market didn't care you don't see how that's not a good thing and make into some console warriors bs.

Exactly final fantasy,  persona, street fighter 6, Resident evil 4, and fromsoftware all becoming massive WW while shrinking in Japan just sad.

Yea but the US tends to be very open to actually trying new type of games. You can release some of the most  mind blowing games in japan like halo/metroid prime and it would still bomb because they are fps. There is no really catering to a audience in the US as long it's a quality game with good advertisement it will do great.

Everyone has their own standard for what is "quality" though. Plenty of games I consider to be excellent flopped in the West; Okami, Bayonetta, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Spec Ops: The Line, No More Heroes, Fatal Frame...

At the end of the day, everyone's tastes are different.

Oh boy, Spec Ops: The Line... I purchased that game on Steam a couple of years ago, and it became one of my favorite third person shooters. It definitely didn't deserved to be a commercial failure.

You know, they should give this game another try. I bet a remaster would at least have decent sales.

People saying nintendo is a monopoly on japan dont know what a monopoly is, a monopoly is when you have only 1 or 2 companies in an industry, meanwhile in japan there are hundreds of game developers and publishers, it just happens that nintendo is the number one by far, but people have choices, and they choose to play nintendo games. Period.

What are they multiplat with? Xbox? PC/Mobile isn't tracked. So obviously he is talking about PS being the sad part. Maybe they should do a better job at being multiplat with the far and obvious console market leader.

This is obviously a console warrior take, PC and Mobile aren't tracked. So what makes the market sad? Isn't Switch already the highest selling console in history? Sounds like the market is doing wonderful, just a certain company failed that you are just making excuses for. Amazing games or console? According to who? You? Who the hell are you to tell consumers they should broaden their taste? The fact that you see nothing wrong with that is appalling. You are that much of a fanboy. The market doesn't care about Resident Evil and Street Fighter and they got what they deserved because they supported a failure.

You will shrink in Japan when you support a platform they don't want. See Monster Hunter bending over backwards to support a platform they want.

How does looking at one week of sales proof of a monopoly? Along with these charts don't include digital (including F2P), PC market, or mobile market. So again how is the market poor? Because PS failed?
