Hardware sales

Last week's thread: Famitsu Sales: Week 24, 2024 (Jun 10 - Jun 16) (vgchartz.com)

This week is almost a copy-paste of last week when it comes to hardware. Both Switch and PS5 way down from last year.

This is kind of a meh week with hardware totals being similar to last week and software sales being down WoW, not counting the new titles.  Switch hardware for 2024 still gained ground on 2019's total though.

Either the direct had no impact or it prevented it from dropping into the mid to low 30's this week. With June doing worse than May the whole May being the weakest month of sales in Japan thing has not really been the case the last few years so that conventional wisdom might not be true any more.

2019 only has 5 more weeks below 50k going forward so opportunities for 2024 to gain ground are running out. Being 81k behind is likely the closest it's gonna get unless it does surprisingly well the next several weeks. Still impressive how well it's kept up with 2019 the first half of this year though.

From looking at the sales number it seems the siwtch is still the engine that could.

This is what I would have expected from Switch last year. But then Zelda happened :D

That's the normal decline coming from 2022.
