The game's ESRB rating reveals that Link will also be playable, at least at some point:

Maybe you play as Zelda in the overworld and Link in the "dark world" that he gets sucked into in the trailer?

I think people are interpreting this the wrong way. During the direct they said pretty much the same thing, pointing out they didn't just want Zelda to become a female version of Link. The paragraph even starts by stating that we assume the role of Zelda. They are making a comparison to other Zelda games, not confirming Link is playable.

edit: formatting was a bit screwed.

I definitely see where you’re coming from, but to me it seems weird to add historical context to an ESRB rating description. My guess is that Link is playable only at the beginning, which takes place in medias res — something like Richter in Symphony of the Night before Alucard becomes the main protagonist.

To me it is very clear from the box art that link will be playable in a sort of dark world. Game has just gotten better for me.

I really like Tunic's art style, but the whole "unreadable in game language" gimmick and the focus on being overly cryptic is a turnoff for me personally.
I didn't grow up in that era of games being obtuse so its a throwback to something I have no attachment to.
Echoes of Wisdom I hope is a more frictionless experience with more modern QoL and convenience.

I agree with you that the unreadable language in the instruction booklet to keep things cryptic is not a good decision to say the least, but the game is much, much more than that.

It's a summary of the game's content for the purposes of an age rating; there would be no need to mention Link's gameplay at all if it wasn't in the game.

Maybe you just play as Link in the opening before swapping to Zelda, but if the ESRB felt the need to describe it in their assessment, it must be in there.

Eventually, we might even get the game where we can play coop as Link and Zelda (or some other characters as well) - ever since TotK reveal I was hoping they would do that.
Maybe, now with official LEGO set, there will be LEGO game as well, so at least there would be that.

I was thinking the same, Link fights his battles in the Depth and he might have to get to a location to be freed.

Switch!!!

I agree will be getting the game now.

A new trailer has been released, detailing the game's version of Hyrule:

Like the Bind.
Disliking art style more and more.
Really disliking "magic" not using up some resource (same thing I had problem with in BotW and TotK, since it cheapens the exploration)
