Her post doesn't bring anything of substance to the table and she even says as much herself. Every sentence in her first paragraph contains either "I could very well be wrong" or an "I think." It's guessing based on hearsay. Jim rayn isn't a credible source either, because otherwise people would care to spell his name correctly. |
Yes, it's well known that Nintendo fanboys are more credible than Jim Ryan, who's worked at Sony for several decades, so let's be serious :3 |
When Jim Ryan says something like this:
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2023/05/jim-ryan-japanese-market-still-very-important-to-sony
...then not even PS fans are willing to believe him, because it's known that Sony has shut down most of its studios in Japan. So when this guy says "160m" in a podcast, then it shouldn't be taken as fact either, because the guy's ability and willingness to spin is on record.
Exact PS2 lifetime figures remain unknown and still fall in the same range as calculated many years ago. This is essentially non-news and also has no influence on any discussions regarding Switch vs. PS2 lifetime sales, because a rounded 160m figure has been the commonly acknowledged and accepted target all along. This means the point of contention regarding Ryan's comment in a podcast is not whether the PS2 reached 160m or not, but rather whether or not to trust Jim Ryan's words blindly.
