Reports of a shooting attack in Tel Aviv

We’re getting reports of a shooting attack in Tel Aviv, with initial information saying that there are a number of casualties.

At least 10 casualties in shooting in Jaffa, say Israeli medical authorities

Medical authorities in Israel have declared a state of emergency, saying there are at least 10 casualties, but it’s unknown how many have been killed and how many have been injured.

In the video we received from the place of the incident, there are a number of people who are on the ground looking lifeless around the train tracks. These trains are set to stop operating later in the evening because of the impending Iranian attack.

But this is nothing new for Israel; they have been responding to shootings of this nature for quite some time. But it’s unclear who the shooter was, what the motives were. At this hour, they have completely sealed off the area and are still looking for the shooter.

Israeli military claim to have killed Hezbollah commander

The Israeli military says its air force has killed Hezbollah member Muhammad Jaafar Qasir in Beirut. It says Qasir was the commander of the unit responsible for the transfer of weapons from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Denmark prime minister supports military intervention in Middle East: Report

Mette Frederiksen says an international military intervention in the Middle East could be a way to impose a two-state solution and break the current deadlock.

Frederiksen urged an overhaul of the international response to the conflict, which escalated as the Israeli army said it had launched a ground offensive against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

“There is no solution in sight to what we see going on over there, and there is no point in letting things continue,” Frederiksen told Danish news agency Ritzau.

Analysis finds Israel killed more children, women than any other recent conflict in a single year

A new analysis by Oxfam has found that the Israeli army has killed more children and women in the besieged and bombarded Gaza Strip over the past 12 months than the equivalent period of any other war in the last two decades.

In a statement, the charity said that conservative figures put the number of children and women killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza to more than 11,000 and 6,000, respectively.

Estimated figures from 2004-2021 on direct conflict deaths from the Small Arms Survey show that the highest number of women killed in a single year was more than 2,600 in Iraq in 2016, Oxfam said.

It added that a report by Every Casualty Counts examined information on more than 11,000 children killed across the first 30 months of the Syrian war, an average of more than 4,700 deaths a year. UN reports on Children and Armed Conflict over the past 18 years show that no other conflicts killed a higher number of children in 12 months, Oxfam said.

“These staggering figures are both appalling and heartbreaking,” said Sally Abi Khalil, Oxfam’s Middle East and North Africa director.

“Influential actors in the international community have not only failed to hold Israel to account, they are also complicit in the atrocities by continuing to unconditionally supply it with arms. It will take generations to recover from the devastating impacts of this war and there is still no ceasefire in sight.”

Number of people killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza climbs to 41,638

The Health Ministry in Gaza has reported that at least 41,638 people have been killed in the Israeli assault on the besieged enclave since October 7.

The toll includes 23 people killed in the last 24-hour reporting period, according to the ministry, which also said that 96,460 people have been wounded in the Gaza Strip since the war began.

Slovenia, Montenegro asked to deny entry to Israel-bound ship

Amnesty International appealed to Montenegro and Slovenia to stop a Portuguese-flagged cargo ship – believed to be carrying explosives bound for Israel – from docking at their ports.

The rights group said such cargo “would contribute to the commission of war crimes in Gaza”.

The MV Kathrin left Vietnam’s Hai Phong port on July 21, Amnesty said. Namibian authorities on August 24 revoked previously granted permission for the ship to enter Namibia’s main harbour, citing information from the ship’s operator that some of the explosives on board were destined for Israel.

The ship reportedly was trying to dock at the Slovenian port of Koper or Bar in Montenegro. On Tuesday, it was located not far from Bar and was expected to arrive there on Thursday, according to the Marine Traffic global ship tracking monitor.

Qassam Brigades claim attacks on Israeli army in central and southern Gaza

The armed wing of Hamas says its fighters targeted a Merkava tank and two D9 military bulldozers with al-Yassin 105 rockets in the al-Fukhari area in the east of Khan Younis city, southern Gaza.

The group separately said it attacked the Israeli forces in the so-called Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza with Rajum rockets and heavy mortar shells.

The Netzarim Corridor was set up to split northern Gaza from the south in the early days of the Israeli offensive on the enclave.

US targets West Bank settler group with sanctions: Treasury Dept

The United States has imposed sanctions against a violent settler group in the occupied West Bank that the US Treasury Department said has repeatedly attacked Palestinians and destroyed their property in the Israeli-occupied territory.

“Through these violent activities, Hilltop Youth is actively destabilising the West Bank and harming the peace and security of Palestinians and Israelis alike,” the Treasury said in a statement.

The group has carried out killings, arson and other attacks to intimidate Palestinians and has devastated communities in the process, the Treasury said.

“The worsening violence and instability in the West Bank are detrimental to the long-term interests of Israelis and Palestinians, and the actions of violent organizations like Hilltop Youth only exacerbate the crisis,” said Bradley Smith, acting under secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.

In fact, Israel’s security cabinet is convening right now in a bunker in West Jerusalem.
