US targets West Bank settler group with sanctions: Treasury Dept

The United States has imposed sanctions against a violent settler group in the occupied West Bank that the US Treasury Department said has repeatedly attacked Palestinians and destroyed their property in the Israeli-occupied territory.

“Through these violent activities, Hilltop Youth is actively destabilising the West Bank and harming the peace and security of Palestinians and Israelis alike,” the Treasury said in a statement.

The group has carried out killings, arson and other attacks to intimidate Palestinians and has devastated communities in the process, the Treasury said.

“The worsening violence and instability in the West Bank are detrimental to the long-term interests of Israelis and Palestinians, and the actions of violent organizations like Hilltop Youth only exacerbate the crisis,” said Bradley Smith, acting under secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.

Thirty arrested in the West Bank in last 24 hours

Israeli forces have detained at least 30 people in the occupied West Bank overnight and in the morning, taking the total number of arrests since October 7 to more than 11,000.

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society in a joint statement said the arrests were mainly made in the governorates of Ramallah and Bethlehem.

The rest took place in the governorates of Hebron and Qalqilya, they added.

Undercover Israeli forces open fire at house in West Bank village

The Palestinian Wafa news agency is reporting that undercover Israeli forces stormed a village in the occupied West Bank and opened fire at a house with the occupants inside.

The report said the forces targeted the house in the Burqin village, south of Jenin. Wafa added that a young man, his wife and children were inside the house when it was targeted.

The condition of those inside is not clear right now.
