2. Code Vein (PC)

3. TMNT: Shredder's Revenge (Series X)

4. Octopath Traveler (PC)*

5. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (PS5)

6. Sea of Stars (PC)

Now Playing:

1. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (PC)

*Putting an asterisk against Octopath because I used a mod near the end of the game.  For those of you who know, you know that the FINAL boss of the game is not only ridiculously difficult in comparison to the rest of the bosses in the game, but also is preceded by an 8 boss bossrush. And you would also know that you cannot save between this boss rush and the final boss.  Getting through these 8 bosses can take nearly an hour.  Each and every single attempt. And the final boss isn't really beatable with a straight forward strategy.  You need to plan it out and try many party builds.  So after a few attempts, I used a mod that allowed me to save after doing the boss rush. And given the number of times I attempted the final boss after that, I probably saved myself a good 8-10 hours of wasted time. And that's after already spending nearly 120 hours with the game.  Fantastic game otherwise!

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
                   Canon of Creation- 70 hours
                   Canon of Vengeance- 45 hours

I beat Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, my 6th JRPG of the year. So I first played the original run, which also came with a bunch of DLC. I was surprised by how light on content it was, clocking in at only 70 hours with me basically doing everything. But then again I guess they expect you to do multiple new game plus runs to get all the endings. I just wanted to play new content so I went straight to Canon of Vengeance after that, but I didn't do it with New Game Plus, so it took me quite awhile to redo parts of the story. However, the new content was nice to have. Multiple story changes and new bosses. I didn't have time to do the superbosses as I will go on a 3 week trip away from my game console, but it definitely would take some grinding or preparing a cheese strat. Overall, the whole package was well worth it, I think if I bought the original I would be disappointed in the lack of content, so I definitely recommend people play the Vengeance version.

Beat lies of P with a 6/10 score. Twas a really good game until the latter third. Before the Walker of Illusion, I would have given it a 7.5 had I stopped then but alas, at the later stages of the game it is plagued with balancing issues in both bosses and areas, adding mini bosses every few feet alongside spammed nornal mobs and status effects to add difficulty for the sake of it but lacking all the fun in tackling that difficulty. Near the endnI just started running past enemies cause why the fuck would I even try. The games leveling system means very little, it's better to spend your souls on consumables and throwing items after a certain point, RPG elements fell very short of the mark alongbwith customization and itemization. Bosses that spike difficulty to extremes out of nowhere but no real ramp up towards that difficulty, often cheaply designed.

I beat the last boss on my first try, a rarity in Souls games (It's never happened before) but it shows the bad design and balance issues since earlier bosses were massively more difficult, the second last boss taking hours. This may be the closest souls like but I always want to play a true Souls game on NG+ straight away, this I wanted it to be over before the end. It out stayed it's welcome and hurt itself towards the end of the game.

I would not recommend this game if you plan on finishing it, the first 25 hours, great and good fun after that it's all down hill in most aspects and the scenery never changes from start to finish with the highlight being the interior of an opera house. These devs could do great in their next game if they learn where they made the mistakes and don't take the advice of the Git Gud crowd who are praising these bosses and the difficulty. I'll be steering clear if they do so.

Remnant 2

So, I played Remnant 1 back in the day, it was a fun enough game. A soulslike with guns? Sounds good. The overall here has improved with varying worlds but it still feels familiar, very much a traditional sequel. More of the same but expanded. Some of the boss fights are great, very unique and probably the best part of the game overall, meanwhile the story is... well, I'm not even sure there was one but they tried to make out there was. It introduced my character plus another, my early side kick just ended up being a no real personality NPC/shop keeper and another 'special' character was introduced. The game then did some odd things to create a plot I had zero interest in because I barely knew who these characters were, so didn't care. Just went to different worlds and wandered around until encountered a boss fight.

Anyway, decent enough but not exactly awards winning sadly.

Hmm, pie.

I have been working on Last Land this year, but not as much a the last 6 years.

Mostly just watch others beat games on YouTube. Markiplier, Angry video game nerd.

My daughter and I were playing Tears of the Kingdom, but one of her siblings swiped the cord or something. So that's about it.
