Next batch entering the top 20.

#20: This game's chilly opening is actually halfway through the story.

#19: In the overal chronology of this series, this game is in the opposite timeline you'd expect it to be if you look at it.

#18: It is obvious that the developers had the time of their lives when developing this game. Still, some of their ideas never made into the game. For example, an idea was that you could reload your weapons by unplugging and re-inserting the rumble-pak.

#17: This game ends with the raising of the Victory Banner on top of the enemy's government building, in reality one of the most iconic images ever.

#16: Even though the blue bartender in the cutscene isn't very helpful at first, when the protagonist shows his civilised weapon he's suddenly a bit more open about things.

19) This is a Zelda game. I'm gonna guess Wind Waker

18) Hmm gonna guess GoldenEye

19 is a good guess because it's one of really only two you could pick with that hint. Wind Waker is sadly the incorrect one though.

18 is right!

16) Remade, reborn, re____

Final Fantasy VII Remake?

#20 - This rhythm game just had a spiritual successor announced at TGA 2023.

23: Valkyria Chronicles

21: Nioh?

20: Final Fantasy XII

22 sounds familiar but can't place it.

Actually it's the FF7 original, but with that hint I'd say it's close enough

Not certain what the other Zelda game that fits 19 is, but might as well try: Twilight Princess?

To say Trails of Cold Steel IV had quite a lot of expectations to live up to would be putting it lightly. It was the culmination of a story that had at that point spanned eight earlier games (though only six had been released in the west at that point), it needed to tie together plot threads from three separate sub-series within the franchise, and do so in a way that not only made sense, but would also serve as a satisfying conclusion to said plot threads in the eyes of the fans who had played all those games. That's a lot to manage all at once, and yet the game did all of it about as well as I could have ever hoped.

Trails of Cold Steel IV is quite understandably a very long game, precisely because it has to wrap up so many different story threads and plot lines, but it all feels earned. I've played a lot of games in recent years that felt like they overstayed their welcome and stretched their runtime for an extra 10 to 15 hours for no good reason, but with Trails of Cold Steel IV that feeling never arrived. In this particular instance, because the developer had spent so much time and effort in telling this epic story, the extended length felt warranted. These were characters and stories I was fully invested in, and I wanted to see this final chapter be given the time to properly tell its story without having to rush through anything. And that's what they did, as this game took me over 130 hours to complete, and I never once got tired of playing it. It was a worthy conclusion to this particular saga within the larger franchise.

27 (incorrect guesses - Resident Evil 4)
- Whilst conservation of ammo was a feature of the first game in the series, in this sequel you’ll have a supply that is pretty much limitless.
- Seeing as this game is a lot more action-orientated and combat heavy than its predecessor, the abundance of ammo makes sense.
- Sees a return to pre-rendered backgrounds, after the previous game had fully 3D environments.
- You switch back and forth between two playable characters as you progress through the game. One of these was the only playable character in the previous game (which was the first game in the series).

26 - Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Find every main collectible in the game and you’ll then get the opportunity to double your haul, as more of the same collectible appear (although different coloured), hidden in the levels you’d previously played.
- If you find all of these additional collectibles, then you’ll be able to play one more additional level.
- This additional level is notoriously hard - especially when the game asks you to achieve perfection in the final run.

24
- Avoid picking up items early on, and you may come across an additional enemy that will reward you upon defeat.
- This additional enemy is linked to the previous game in the series.
- One of the main locations you visit in this game, is also visited early on in game 23 on my list.

23
- In reference to game 24’s first clue - in this game you’ll find out how this enemy came to be.
- The main playable character in this game has a link to the additional enemy referenced in game 24.
- The events of this game take place both before and after the events of game 24 in my list.

22
- As you play through this game, it helps to pay attention to what you’ve seen, what you’ve heard, and what you’ve been told, as that knowledge will come in handy later.
- One of the playable characters in this game first appeared in an earlier game (of a different genre) from the same developer.
- The playable character referenced above can take flight in both games, although his method for doing so is different in each game.

20 - Donkey Kong Country
- A bonus room accessed through another bonus room? Now that’s pretty sneaky.

Twilight Princess is correct.

I was referring to the 'child' and 'adult' timelines; at a glance you might sooner guess, or mistake, Twilight Princess would be 'adult' because it's an older Link, while Wind Waker would be 'child', but it's actually the other way around. Your Wind Waker guess could have been right in the same way Twilight Princess was right, so it was a good guess, but the first hint wasn't clear about which of the lines I meant yet.

#26: Super Mario Galaxy 2, the green stars were a great way to extend the gameplay.

#20: Donkey Kong Country

Correct on both counts. Been a while since I played through SMG2 fully - think I'm overdue. Never did beat the final level though.

28. This 2015/2016 JRPG is from a media franchise that used to rival Pokemon. It featured a simple story and more than enough monsters to collect like the old ps1 games. The developers of this game used to make the Wild Arms series, and then they worked on Shining games, and more recently they assisted with Valkyria Chronicles remastered and Valkyria Chronicles 4.

There is Pokemon and then there was ____mon.

23. A military tactical RPG released for the PS3. The main character is a tank commander of an elite squad for a small country.

22. "Everybody is born with a gift. The gods bestow us all with a job only we can do. It is our fate."

21. One of the first western foreigners comes to Japan, he finds demons.

20. "Don’t listen to Ondore’s lies!"

28) I figured it was a Digimon game but I don't know much about them. I think Cyber Sleuth was one, maybe that?

The last one sounds familiar but can't quite place it

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth is correct.
