Maybe. Not an F-Zero fan, but I have NSO, so I might check it out.

Me neither, but I had a lot of fun playing today. I started out getting killed, landing between 70 and 90th or so. But after switching around cars and control styles I managed to get consistently in the top 50, hitting mainly around 30th… I’m still not great at the game, but better than average. Essentially, I kind of suck at this one compare to the other 99 series games, but I think it’s WAY more fun than other F-Zero games I’ve played.

On a  separate note, one thing that hasn’t been brought up is that this is the first game in the 99 series based on a 16-bit game. It’s also much more fleshed out than the others.

It should be interesting to see where this goes in the future. Link to the Past? DKC? Mario Kart?

I'm ok with the game itself, but man disappointed that after 19 years this is what we get. Even the bare minimum like a remaster of GX Nintendo refuses to do and still somehow manages to crawl under the bare minimum.

I'll give it a try, never really liked F-Zero on SNES.

Yeah this game was a total surprise to me and really the only thing in the Direct I got excited about.
I've loved Pacman99 and Tetris99, and only play Mario35 a few times while it was available but that was cool too. Super excited about a 99 game for Fzero!

Played the game a bit today just expecting the original game but made to accommodate 99 races, but they actually added a bunch new stuff for this game. Very cool! Although this game makes me reallllly want a FzeroX-99 game haha, but I'll get plenty of Fzero gaming in now on NSO between this and FzeroX. This game really breathes in new life to the original Fzero which quite frankly pales in comparison to X and GX.

This also shows that Nintendo knows fans want Fzero so I have hope we'll see GX either on NSO or an HD remaster at some point in the next few years and maybe we'll even live to see a new Fzero game haha.

It seems like such a strange way to reintroduce the franchise after 19 years (unless you count the mini game in Nintendoland).

I've only played one race against 98 others, but it was fun.

You forgot the Mario Kart 8 level based on F-Zero.

It looks to me like Nintendo is testing the waters to possibly bring back the series

MK8 is almost 10 years old. If they are testing based on that man, Earthbound and Smash must be applying for an Ivy League Scholarship.

This is really just another entry in the 99 series. Not Fzero.  That's fine and all but F-Zero needs a proper entry.

uhhh "not Fzero"....it's literally an Fzero game lol

Is Tetris 99 not a Tetris game? Is pacman 99 not a pacman game?

That logic makes zero sense.

Yes Fzero needs a new game of course, but all indications are that Nintendo isn't even working on one. Fzero99 is very cool and the first new Fzero thing in two decades so we should all be excited about that! Anyone hoping and waiting for a new Fzero game should be happily playing this game.

And as Bofferbrauer says, this could be Nintendo testing the waters to see how much interest there is for Fzero. They put in actual work to make this, its not just like a port of an old Fzero. This game required a lot more work than just porting GX would have taken cuz they actually added a lot of stuff, its not just wider SNES tracks with net code. That's a good sign. While I hope we get both a GX port (ideally on NSO if they add GC at some point next gen) and a new entry in the series next gen, having a really cool Fzero99 come out of nowhere is awesome and shows that Nintendo has actually been doing stuff with Fzero for the first time in 20 years. As of yesterday the series had been dead for two decades. As of today Fzero is alive once again.

Not the f-zero I was looking for. I hope others enjoy it.
