Thanks. I'm still disappointed we had it that much undertracked. Sony and Nintendo are far easier as we get quarterly shipment totals. And Sony also released sell-through numbers recently for each quarter. At the end of March the ship sell-through gap for PS5 was about 2.4M. I was happy to see I had PS5 overtracked by about 100K at the end of March. Though I had to move some sales around a bit to match the quarterly sell-through.

And to make things harder on the historically good markets of Xbox you crosschecked with eventual leaking and info so it was very near for the whole time, so it is quite hard to guess where the 7M went.

Yeah it mainly had to come from Latin America, Asia, MEA, and Oceania. Japan being so low compared to Xbox 360 and even OG Xbox made us think it wasn't doing that well in Asia either.

Gotcha, but I guess Korea and China done quite a lot better on X1 compared to X360

Relatively to worldwide sales yeah those markets have grown since the Xbox 360 days. Plus China had banned consoles for many years which was lifted I think during earlier on the Xbox One and PS4 life.

Yep, there were also a lot of grey market sales in that region early X1/PS4 time. Not sure how much it sold over there, just that it was a new market together with India where MS certainly would have done better than the models based on X360 time.

Yeah, India too. Percentage of worldwide sales in the regions I've mentioned for Xbox One are now more in line where we have Xbox Series X|S. While before it was closer to Xbox 360. With the 21M+ figure we got from Microsoft shows we've been doing the right thing having a higher percentage of sales in the rest of world regions.

On these countries gamepass certainly helped a lot in growing the sales (dunno about China, but from what I know gaming PCs is quite expensive in India and even more when compared to Series S and the average income over there).

Btw Ampere adjusted their Xbox Series estimates up by about a million and they pretty much match the VGChartz estimates. Less than a 1% difference between the 2 in March.

Ampere analyst: "We upgraded our sell-through estimates for end of 2022 previously. It is 19.5m. 21.1m end of March."

This, right here, should hopefully end all of the detractors that keep referencing Ampere numbers suggesting that VGChartz is much less accurate.

I'd hope that would also quell some of the individuals that suggest this site is biased towards Xbox as well (I see this more from other communities such as N4G). Though, unfortunately, a lot of times when people claim things like that they have their own confirmation bias, so this information may not even be considered by them.

Yes people need to separate the opinions being aired by those replying to the articles and in the forums from VGChartz itself, and even then if you look at it from a members viewpoint the largest base is Nintendo not Xbox being on here for 15 years it tends to go up and down depending on how well each is doing at the time, especially the commenting side, an example during 360's heyday the Xbox side was very vocal but dropped off until like every base a new gen appears to enthuse us all that hope along with the expansionist approach of Xbox this gen has seen a rise but most of its seems to be driven by an emboldened and more vocal existing  membership rather than an influx of new and old members, while in comparison there was less of a decline in comments from the Nintendo side when the WII U was doing poorly but that was countered by a rise in negative comments. the PlayStation has been the strange one, while active especially during the PS3's come back years the success of the PS4 didn't seem to continue that activity and there has been a steady decline especially amongst stalwart posters.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Considering the XBO sold just over 29M in the U.S., that means the U.S. represented half the global market share for the system. This is not too dissimilar from the 360, where the U.S. was about half that system's global market share. So, the gen-over-gen drop was proportionally about the same in Europe as it was in North America (in Japan, it was a much steeper drop proportionally, but not in numerical terms).

Only took 8 and a half yrs to get a goddamn update on sales figures. I remember when I predicted 70m for the Xbox one and 110m (maybe said 100m lol) for the ps4… darn I was a homer in those days

Maybe they’ll post the next update when I’m in my 40s hahahahahaha!

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).
